In a long New Hampshire thread this May where neighbors traded HVAC horror stories, Joyce is the name people said they had switched to. One commenter had used them for 23 years and called the crews competent and the company big enough to move fast in an emergency; another had switched a decade ago for both heat and AC; a third, who said they had worked in the trade, put Joyce on the short list of outfits still worth calling. The Nashua company covers the full range — central air, ductless and high-velocity systems, heat pumps, furnaces and boilers, oil-to-gas conversions, tankless water heaters, indoor air quality and commercial work — and its licences check out on both sides of the border: the New Hampshire mechanical business licence MBE0900281 is active in the state registry, and its Massachusetts HVAC licence, number 623-SM-B, is active as well. The Better Business Bureau lists it as accredited with an A+ grade. Speed and stock are what the reviews keep landing on. A technician in August 2026 diagnosed a failed capacitor and had the replacement on the truck, so there was no wait; another arrived on time with the needed component for a dead AC. A February 2026 customer who lost heat in the coldest stretch of the winter was added to the emergency schedule and running again within an hour of the crew arriving; a January 2026 household with three young children and a 30-year furnace that quit on a Monday night had a diagnosis Tuesday and a full replacement finished the next morning. A 2025 reviewer had a condenser fail at 7pm on a 90-degree day and reported a technician at the door 15 minutes after the call. Installers get named constantly, and cleanliness comes up as often as competence — one August 2026 customer said the tarped-off spaces were less dusty after the crew left than before. The complaints are consistent with each other and worth weighing. A 2026 Reddit commenter described three visits and two coolant charges chasing an AC leak, after which the recommendation was to replace the whole system; a small one-man outfit then found the leak. Another said their major replacements had worn out about when the warranty lapsed. On Google, an August 2026 customer was on a second service visit for a new mini-split still dripping water. And the $129 service-call fee, charged on top of labor, rankled at least one otherwise satisfied customer. A solid call for a system replacement, a mini-split, or a no-heat night in the Nashua area, with plumbing and water heaters handled in-house. Ask what the diagnostic fee covers, and if a leak or a drip is the problem, agree up front on what happens if the first visit does not find it.
“Joyce is fabulous”
“Joyce is great. I've used them for all my HVAC need for the last 23 years. It has competent crews that respect my home. Big enough to get your job done fast in an emergency.”
“doing just fine. Heritage is okay when you have a problem that needs fixing NOW, but I wouldn't ask them to install anything new. Too expensive. I let them quote replacing a malfunctioning ducted AC and they wanted almost 50k and told me I needed mini splits. Joyce wasn't much better. Total rubbish. I had a great experience with Dave the Plumber out of Salem( [https://davetheplumberhvac.com/](https://davetheplumberhvac.com/) ). He replaced the AC with a GREE heat pump that reused my existing ducting, and I couldn't be happier with the product. He had a ”
“Joyce came out to find a leak in our AC system and after 3 visits and 2 charges of our coolant, we were no closer to figuring it out and at that point they just recommended that we change out the entire system. We called another company out - small business, one man show - and after a thorough once over he found the leak and replaced the outdoor u”
“We have had good luck with Joyce. We use Palmer Gas for propane. They also do installs. Solid company.”
Prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, confident, courteous, friendly, neat. I'm not crazy about the $129 service call fee just to show up in addition to the labor charge for doing the work. I understand some contractors work that way to cover overhead and other expenses, but it's something that I handle differently with my business. But the work was done well and in a timely manner. Allan also did a modification to the wiring to bypass the system kill button to resolve the intermittent system failure to start issue. That was not part of the service request, but he had the time to do it.
Joyce Cooling and Heating are the best! Always A+ in every way. Highly recommend them 😊
I had a great experience with Shawn and his crew. All were very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I would highly recommend Joyce H&C to my neighbors and friends. Thank you so much!
