Seventy-four permitted projects, and one review. That gap is the whole story of JP Works Remodeling. The building departments know this Westford company well. Its sampled permit history runs from 2018 through 2023 and reads like a portfolio of ordinary, well-scoped suburban work: kitchens gutted and reframed, bathrooms taken back to the studs, decks and landings rebuilt, a two-car garage added, windows swapped — jobs valued from $4,300 up to $132,000, most of them in Westford itself. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, held by JP Works, L.L.C., is active, and BuildZoom scores the company 111, which it places in the 96th percentile of Massachusetts contractors. The owner tells it plainly on BuildZoom: seventeen years in home remodeling, starting out as a handyman service that grew into a full-service business. Jonathan Worthey is the manager on record. What almost nobody has done is write about them. One customer did, in June 2017, describing a master shower removed down to the studs and rebuilt — and crediting the company with recommending a different build method so the original problem would not recur, then keeping communication open the whole way through. Its Houzz profile, which lists typical job costs from $1,000 to $200,000 and names eleven towns from Acton to Harvard, carries no reviews at all. BuildZoom also lists a Massachusetts construction supervisor licence, CS-085136, that it has not verified. So the permits vouch for the volume and the state vouches for the registration, but there is almost no homeowner account of what the experience is like. If you are planning a bathroom or kitchen gut, ask for two or three recent addresses and call those owners — this is a company whose work is better documented at town hall than anywhere a homeowner would look.
JP Works completed a master shower project; where the original shower had to be removed down to the studs and replaced. Jon and his team did a wonderful job and was great to work with throughout the entire process. It started with a recommendation to leverage a new process to build the shower so that I would not experience the same issue that required me to replace it to begin with. I was impressed with his up-to-date knowledge of options, professionalism and responsiveness. Maintaining communication is key with any project and we had open lines of communication every step of the way which helped deliver, what I think, is an amazing, beautiful new shower. I am very happy with it and would not only recommend Jon but also plan to use JP Works for future projects.
