James Libby, who goes by Jim or Jimmy in his reviews, runs Justbo Building Co out of Boston, and the range of work customers describe is wide: cedar-shingle re-siding for a whole condo building, a basement remodel, custom-built bunk beds, exterior painting and foundation repairs, and fixing stucco and drainage problems left behind by another contractor. His Massachusetts construction supervisor license (CS-087010) is verified active, and the company says it also holds hoisting engineer licenses; it's been doing residential and commercial work, largely painting and carpentry, for about 30 years. The reviews on file run from 2020 through March 2022, and the specifics repeat: Jim shows up, communicates clearly, and follows up afterward to make sure the work held. A 2022 review described a condo association hiring him to strip and re-shingle a section of their building with cedar for $24,650, finishing a day ahead of schedule. A 2021 review described a $10,000 basement remodel where he "worked with me every step of the way." Another described him returning to redo a porch and reroute a basement door on an earlier job, then coming back years later for painting and custom bunk beds. One longtime client, writing in December 2020, said Jim had done both major and smaller projects for him over many years and always returned to confirm the work held up. The licensing picture has a few loose threads worth asking about directly: BuildZoom lists an additional, active Home Improvement Contractor license (#194899) and a separate, inactive one (#137400), while the company's own site cites yet a third HIC number (171934) that hasn't been verified against the state registry — none of which is the construction supervisor license that IS verified active. The most recent written review here is from March 2022, over four years old, so it's worth asking for more recent references directly. For carpentry, painting, or broader building work in the Boston area — including a repair job left by another contractor — Justbo has a genuinely broad, positive history from 2020 through early 2022 to point to; confirm current licensing and ask for recent references given how much time has passed since the newest review on file.
Our Condo Association hired Justbo to strip and re-side a section of our building with cedar shingles. Jim and his crew worked tirelessly, where professional, highly organized and took great pride in their work. Plus they finished a day ahead of schedule. They were a pleasure to work with and we would definitely recommend them for your next building project.

Jim was the best communicator - responded promptly, inspected the house right away and sent me quote that was very reasonable and fair. It was a difficult decision but we are going with a contractor who is more local to the job. However, based on my experience with him I would hire him for other work in the future and recommend him to others.

I was very pleased hiring Jim for his services. He was very knowledgeable in his work, showed up on time, cleaned up at the end of the day, but more importantly build trust with his clients. He worked with me every step of the way throughout the duration of the project and if any issues arose we would talk it through. He was efficient, communitive, and honest. I am looking forward of hiring him again for future projects!
