Kevin Cradock Builders (also doing business as Cradock Woodworking) is a Boston-based custom home-building and millwork company led by owner Kevin Cradock, performing high-end residential renovations, additions and ground-up new construction alongside handmade cabinetry and furniture built in its own Boston millshop. The firm has an unusually strong press pedigree for a company of its size. Boston Magazine has featured its work repeatedly, describing Cradock as a preservationist with deep knowledge of historical building techniques, and reported in 2022 that the firm had recently marked its 25th year in business — consistent with the website's account of Kevin Cradock establishing his own shop by the mid-1990s, though BBB's own registration record lists the company as started in 2005, likely reflecting when it was formally incorporated rather than when Kevin began working independently. The firm won a 2021 PRO New England Gold Award for a residential townhouse/condo renovation, and Kevin Cradock sits on the boards of ICAA New England, the Boston Preservation Alliance, BRAGB and PRO New England. Press coverage documents a Rivoli millwork program in an Old World inset style, a 1930s Tudor kitchen renovation in Jamaica Plain, and a charity bathroom renovation the firm led for IFDA New England. Direct customer reviews are thin given the firm's history, but the one detailed account on file — a 2022 review of a whole-house renovation of a historic Jamaica Plain colonial, covering kitchens, baths, systems, custom millwork and a basement in-law apartment — calls Kevin Cradock Builders "the last contractor you'll ever hire." For a high-end renovation, addition or historic restoration in the Boston area, especially one that calls for custom millwork, Kevin Cradock Builders brings a well-documented, award-winning track record — the thin review count reflects the nature of the projects more than any gap in quality.
“Rivoli looked first to the millwork, teaming up with Kevin Cradock Builders on a cabinetry program that nods to Old World furniture with its inset style and hand-painted finish”

“Renovating a bathroom is the largest project IFDA NE has undertaken, and Kevin Cradock Builders stepped up to oversee the entire project – from securing donations of materials and services from vendors and subcontractors to donating the KCB team to handle carpentry and construction. ... “The KCB team welcomed the opportunity to give back to the community, and lead the renovation of this bathroom at Wellesley ABC. We are really pleased with the end result, and thank everyone involved,” said Kevin Cradock, Founder, and President of Kevin Cradock Builders. ... renovate the bathroom coincided with”
“Inspired by the architecture around which he grew up, Kevin Cradock has created a solid business based on high-quality craftsmanship, preservation, and paying it forward.”
Kevin Cradock Builders is the last contractor you'll ever hire. We worked with the KCB team to do a whole house renovation of our historic Colonial in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. Kitchens, baths, systems, walls, custom millwork, built-ins, decks, basement in-law apartment, and home gym. The level of quality and service that KCB delivers is on another level. They care and take pride in their work. They respect the home and not only want it to look beautiful but stand the test of time. The KCB team operates like a "good business." The culture is fantastic, and it shows with the people working in the homes. They're excited about the work. Incredibly clean, friendly, and courteous. They're meticulous about documenting everything they do. One of the things that stood out to me was KCB's communication. KCB is incredibly proactive and made me feel like I was their only client. Throughout our project, we had a weekly meeting. They always answered my questions promptly; by phone, text, and email. Our project was completed in December 2015, and 7 years later, the KCB team will come by for anything needed, whether periodic AC servicing, refinishing the decks, or any other repairs; it's clear they stand by their product and never disappear after things are done. KBC's goal is to be with you for life. Kevin himself is incredibly knowledgeable. As we uncovered things in our older home, it became clear that there are not many things he has not come across from all the previous projects he's done. And if he doesn't know, he doesn't guess, he'd let me know that he's going to consult a professional and get right back to us. He will advocate for doing things the right way. Kevin has real integrity and is incredibly honest. He doesn't play the "change order" game. His initial quote may not come in the lowest, but we were surprised along the way. There were times when he informed us that work came in under budget and worked with us to provide solutions to create the most value. This was a breath of fresh air compared with our previous renovation projects with other contractors. Simply put - Kevin Cradock Builders is my highest recommended vendor across any industry. They are different, and it will become clear soon after you start working with them. If KCB will take on your project, jump in and don't look back.
