Kitchen Port is a cabinetry, countertop and built-in shop in Orleans that BBB lists as in business since 2006. The company works directly with homeowners through owner Dean, who reviewers describe as hands-on through a kitchen build. There isn't much written history yet, and what's there is split. In a 2023 Google review, a homeowner called Dean's cabinetry excellent and said he was present at every step of a new kitchen build with strong suggestions along the way. A more recent account is very different: in a July 2026 review, a customer described a frustrating cabinet installation after the originally chosen manufacturer went out of business -- Dean picked a replacement company without involving them in the decision. A separate, detailed Houzz review from a different customer describes craftsmanship and scheduling problems, and says the owner entered the customer's condo through a window without permission; the business posted a lengthy point-by-point reply to that review. Given how few written accounts there are and how serious that Houzz complaint is, it's worth asking directly -- before any work starts -- how the company handles home access when a customer isn't present, and getting a clear, written plan for cabinet selection and scheduling up front.
Our kitchen cabinet installation was a frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. The cabinet manufacturer originally selected went out of business. Rather than involving us in choosing a replacement, Dean selected a different cabinet company without showing us any samples. Once the cabinets were installed, we questioned the quality of the craftsmanship. The installation was subpar. A corner cabinet was misaligned, trim work uneven, and there were noticeable gaps that were left unfinished. Scheduling was also difficult, taking multiple calls to receive updates or get work completed. The most concerning incident occurred when Dean entered our condo through a kitchen window to complete final touch-ups. He could have simply called or texted to let us know he was there. Entering our home this way was completely unacceptable. Given the amount we spent, we expected much higher quality and better communication. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we cannot recommend this company.
Working with Dean is a pleasure. He is extremely professional and confident. He brings a world of experience to the kitchen table 😊 The quality of the cabinetry is excellent. Dean was with us every step of the way during a new kitchen build and had terrific suggestions for us. Dean is a true professional!
