Lantern Construction

Lantern Construction is Jack Horgan's Gloucester outfit, and the range of jobs in its reviews is wide: porch and deck repair, additions, an entire centuries-old building renovation, storm-damaged beach stairs, hardwood floors, and full exterior overhauls with new siding and roofing. What repeats across nearly all of it is the same account of Jack himself — hands-on, communicative, and there through to the end of a project. In 2025, one homeowner hired Jack and his team to add a garage, mudroom, and bonus room, describing him as having a deep roster of trusted trade partners covering everything from foundation and framing onward. That same year, another review described a full exterior renovation — rot repair, chimney removal, new siding, a new roof, new exterior doors. In 2024, condo owners in a centuries-old multi-unit building described him navigating individual unit owners' concerns while repairing and updating the structure, and a community had him rebuild storm-damaged beach stairs only after he met with the local Conservation Commission to make sure the work was done by the book. Reviews from 2022 through this year also describe wood shingle siding, hardwood floors, and rot-repair jobs finishing on time and on budget. Not every account is spotless. In a March 2025 review, a repeat customer said the work itself was quality but described the interaction over price and completion as challenging, adding that Jack ultimately reimbursed them for work that wasn't finished. It's the one dated complaint among the 22 reviews on file, and it was resolved rather than left open. For anything from a repair to a full addition or historic-building renovation on the North Shore, Lantern has a broad, mostly consistent history to point to; get pricing and completion terms in writing up front, given the one dispute described in these reviews.
