LEO Fencing Club is a Cambridge épée club offering youth and adult programs, beginner classes, camps, clinics, private lessons, open fencing, and competition training. Its website highlights coaches Julian Rueda and Frédéric Fenoul and says the club welcomes fencers from age six upward. The 2025–2026 reviews are unusually consistent about coaching quality, strategy, community, and athlete development. Families describe children moving from beginners to confident competitive fencers, while reviewers praise the coaches' experience, empathy, and attention to each student's needs. The strongest fit is for families or adults seeking structured épée training, from first lessons through serious competition. Confirm current schedules, tuition, equipment needs, and the appropriate program before enrolling; the public record is overwhelmingly positive but largely review-based.
Great place to excel at fencing.
Great coaches, facility, and community! My son is having a blast learning to fence!
My son (12 years old) joined Leo for this season, transferring from another local club, and I can't overstate how pleased we are with the transition. Julian Rueda is the owner and head coach of the club, which he recently founded after an extensive national and international coaching career. Frédéric Fenoul recently joined after years of coaching at top levels of fencing across Europe. They are both excellent teachers and wonderful people. The club's philosophy truly focuses on developing athletes who go above and beyond to meet each athlete's and family's individual needs. The club is new, young, and has a family atmosphere. It’s also conveniently located. I see them expanding quickly in the Boston epee fencing scene.
Just outstanding coaches! Results speak for themselves.
LEO is like no other club in the area given the thought, care, and incredible experience it provides. The combination of not just exceptional skills coaching but also ensuring children learn about mindset, building community, and generally contributing to raising amazing human beings. Our son has been fencing with Julian, the former Columbian national coach, since he first started coaching in the area years ago. He is also spoke very highly of Frederic, the Belgian Olympic Coach who just joined LEO. LEO provides classes and flexibility for fencers who want to just fence for fun through Olympic level fencing. We are grateful and lucky to have such an amazing community of fencers!
