Louis Benson Electrician is a Middleton one-man operation run by Louis S. Benson, a sole proprietor whose Better Business Bureau profile lists 29 years in business and an A+ letter grade, though the business isn't BBB accredited. The clearest account on file, from Thumbtack, describes hiring "Lou" after two other electricians backed out of a job they'd already committed to — he came out within a few days, quoted a better price than either of the other contractors, and installed three pendant lights and a switch above a kitchen island. A 2022 Google review separately praised him as quick to respond, thorough and reasonably priced. The written record is thin — just three reviews spanning 2022 to 2025 — so it's worth confirming his current availability and getting a written quote before booking, especially for a bigger job than a fixture install.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Louis Benson Electrician. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.
Estimated range
$530 – $1,100
Typical electrical project around $820
Good place
Responded quickly and was very thorough. Excellent work and very pleasant to deal with. Also very reasonably priced. Will definitely use again for any electrical work needed.
I had two electricians back out after committing to do the job prior to hiring Lou. Once I connected he came out within a few days and was able to complete the job at a better price than either of the other contractors I contacted. We had 3 pendant lights and a switch installed above a kitchen island and the work came out great. I would definitely use Lou again.
