Hardware off, drawers and slides cleaned inside, everything masked and sealed, a light sand, sprayed primer, then the finish coat. That level of detail is how a 2023 customer described a $5,700 kitchen cabinet refinish by LP Painting & Carpentry — and cabinet work is what most of this shop's customers come to it for. It is a one-person business on paper, run by Leo Lima out of Pinehurst in Billerica, trading since 2014 and BBB accredited since May 2015 with an A+ grade. Reviewers describe crews rather than a lone painter, so the sole-proprietor structure is a legal shape, not a description of who shows up. Painting and finish carpentry sit side by side in the work: trim, crown molding, wainscoting, built-in bookcases, mantels, custom bars and furniture alongside interior and exterior painting, cabinet refinishing and hardwood flooring installation. The carpentry half is where the more ambitious jobs live. A 2022 reviewer had a condo roof deck rebuilt — rotted railing and posts replaced with a handcrafted railing, a privacy wall added, rotting wood beneath the siding and a window frame replaced, a broken outlet fixed, and LED strips run under the railing — and said Leo came back twice after final payment for touch-ups. A 2021 reviewer went further still, describing a $73,000 project covering a kitchen and three bathrooms where Leo coordinated painters, plumbers and an electrician and advised on tile and fixtures, with several mid-project changes adding only about a week to a six-week schedule. What is thin is the recent record. Twelve reviews sit across BBB, Houzz and HomeAdvisor, every one of them positive, but the newest is from April 2023 — and three of them, the BBB excerpts, carry no star rating and no date at all, so they can only speak generally. One BBB excerpt is printed with the platform's own "REMOVED" redaction in the middle of a sentence. The same Ivan S. cabinet review also appears on both Houzz and HomeAdvisor, so the count across sites is smaller than it looks. On credentials: Houzz lists two numbers for the company, LR001967 and HIC 181822, and the company describes itself as lead-certified and OSHA-certified. Those are the directory's and the company's own claims, not state confirmations, and the lead question matters here — cabinet and trim work on pre-1978 houses is exactly where lead-safe certification counts, so ask to see the certificate and check the Home Improvement Contractor registration with the Office of Consumer Affairs. Good fit for a homeowner in the Billerica-to-Boston corridor wanting cabinet refinishing or built-in carpentry from a hands-on owner, with painting and full-room work available on top. Ask for a job finished this year and a couple of local references, since the published writing stops in 2023.

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Refinished (painted) old installed kitchen cabinets. Owner Leo Lima was very thorough in explaining the process and materials. The crews were on time daily and very thorough in removing hardware, cleaning surfaces and even inside of drawers, their slides and cabinets. Thoroughly covered and sealed off areas and surfaces not to be painted, then lightly sanded, sprayed primer and then finish coat. Staff worked hard and steadily. All were friendly. Daily and final cleanup well done. Would definitely recommend without any hesitation.

We moved into our condo in 2021 and had replaced the old and rotting planks with composite soon after we moved in; however, we were most interested in revitalizing the roof deck altogether - the railing and posts were rotted and had peeling paint, and we had minimal privacy when hosting friends and family. After speaking with several contractors, we were fortunate enough to find Leo, who gave the roof deck a complete facelift! We initially hired Leo to update the siding of our top deck and replace the door leading to the bottom deck. During our first consultation meeting with him, he had brainstormed many design concepts and ideas we had not even thought of that we ultimately went with - we highly appreciated the creativity and effort to make our image a reality. He was incredibly communicative, and we really felt like we were working as a team. We ended up having him replace the railing of our upper deck and added a privacy wall with a beautiful design. He handcrafted the railing and involved us in every step of the design process. He also replaced rotting wood that was exposed beneath the siding, fixed a broken outlet, and completely replaced a rotting window frame. He also put in place LED light strips beneath the railing to create a sense of ambience we didn't even realize we were looking for! Leo was always very transparent with the timing of each phase of this project as well as any associated costs. Leo went above and beyond and returned twice after our final payment to add some minor touch ups to ensure the deck was as picture-perfect as can be! We have many upcoming projects in our new home and hope to work with Leo on all of them. We have already begun brainstorming together what we can do with our bottom deck. We would recommend Leo a thousand times over and are looking forward to collaborating with him again!

Leo was great to work with, full of ideas and enthusiasm and very attentive to cost. Always professional and easy to get in touch with, Leo helped at every step in the process, from ideation to choosing fixtures and paint. His attention to all the details kept me from feeling overwhelmed. He coordinated the painters, plumbers, electrician, and advised on tiles and fixtures when I asked. After the initial quote and time estimate, I added several changes that made the final project so much better while only extending the time by only a week (out of six). My kitchen and all three bathrooms are gorgeous, with some really unique touches that didn't break the budget. I feel such a sense of calm and joy when I use them. I would highly recommend Leo to others considering a large or small renovation. [Job cost stated: $73,000]
