Homeowners keep arriving at LuciGold after failing to find anyone else who makes the thing they need. A customer writing in November 2022 needed a flush hatch in a deck to satisfy a fire-code egress requirement; contractors had wanted to dig a new window into the side of the house, which would have blocked access to the backyard. He found a video of Peter Luciani demonstrating a flush deck hatch, and got the deck he had imagined. A November 2025 reviewer put it more bluntly: the only makers of exactly what he needed. This is a fabricator rather than a general contractor. From East Wareham it designs and builds lightweight all-aluminum basement egress systems, bulkhead doors, custom patio and floor hatches, and storm and fire barriers, all made in-house and — by the company's own account — installed coast to coast. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, held under the LuciGold LLC name. The written record is small and uniformly positive: four Google reviews since 2022, all five stars, behind a 5.0 average from 14 ratings. A September 2022 customer with an older house needing a custom bulkhead described quote, design, fabrication and install arriving on schedule, and named Peter and Ken by way of thanks. Away from the review sites, the Boston Design Guide reported in 2022 that a designer brought Luciani in for a sitting area above a dock staircase, with a latch door that blends into the deck surface — and the company's hatches turn up specified by name in Massachusetts town building-permit paperwork. The one caution comes from a satisfied customer. In November 2025 he called the price steep before adding it was worth every penny; custom aluminium fabrication is not the cheap route to an egress. If a code deadline is driving the project, start the conversation early — design and fabrication both come before an install date.
“The homeowners also envisioned a gathering space by the dock, sparking McKay to consult Peter Luciani of LuciGold for an innovative solution. Their skillful collaboration yielded a sleek and functional sitting area atop a pre-existing staircase that leads to an extensive dock.”

The only makers of exactly what I needed to make a tiny deck into an amazing one. My word was it expensive, but worth every penny. The quality is fantastic and every interaction with the company was fast and professional. It’s easy to open and the claps that lock it from the inside are impressive, no one is getting that thing open from the outside. A fantastic local company.
Great product and professional installation, highly recommended!
Fire code requires an egress and we needed a solution. I searched and searched for a option for a deck hatch, but nothing seemed like a reasonable solution. Contractors wanted to dig a new window on the side of the house, but that would block our access to the backyard, and the other side was just a crawl space. Luckily I found a youtube video of Peter Luciani demonstrating his flush deck hatch. This would allow me to seamlessly integrate the required egress and allow me to walk over it when I have the French doors installed. I was able to have my deck the exact way I imagined it. The measurement process was slightly complicated for a handyman and would have liked the up front option for them to come measure for me. I loved their communication with email or phone call, very smooth. The install was excellent and Peter told me the slight discrepancy and out-of-square of the cement base from when it was originally poured that would need to be accounted for by the deck contractors. Once deck was installed they came out and put the last set of shocks to accommodate the weight of the deck. Very very happy overall. This will add a significant cost to your deck project, but you get what you pay for. My contractors will now offer this option to their other homeowners as this opens up lots of possibilities.
The LuciGold bulkhead process from start to finish was hands down the best home project experience. We have an older home which required a custom bulkhead. They made the process extremely easy, from navigating the website to quote, design, fabrication and install. The finished product came out amazing! Great craftsmanship, customer service, very responsive to questions and on schedule. Thank you Peter, Ken and LuciGold team!
