The Modern Moose

Five reviews, all of them at least five years old, and they split hard: three homeowners who got what they paid for, two who say they got nothing. That is the entire written history of The Modern Moose, the East Wareham handyman business customers name as Dave, or David. The good side is specific. In September 2020 a customer wanted a porch sanded and power washed, and said the job came back done at a price they called good. Another that same month mentioned punctuality and a TV mounted on the wall. That October, a homeowner wrote that David came right out to quote and finished in a timely fashion. Then it turns. A December 2020 one-star review says only "Scammers do not use." In March 2021 another customer wrote that he never showed up when he said he would, never finished the job, and took $800 — the most detailed of the five accounts, and the newest. That same complaint has been reproduced on the directory site localitybiz, though without a date attached. Google's own average sits at 3.4 stars from five ratings. Nothing has been written about this business by a customer since that March 2021 complaint. Five reviews is far too thin to settle a business either way, and the newest of them describes an abandoned job. If you are considering them for a small repair, ask directly about the 2021 complaint, get the scope and a payment schedule in writing, and keep any deposit small until the work is underway.
