M.J.M Designs Custom Carpentry and Remodeling - Post Office Box only

Matt MacInnes runs M.J.M Designs out of Winchester as a sole proprietorship. The BBB puts the business at 16 years, operating since 2010, and grades it A+ while noting it is not accredited. The work is carpentry first — custom woodwork and cabinetry, kitchens and baths, and the project management around a renovation. The written accounts are few, and they lean early. A January 2022 Google reviewer wrote that Matt, Joe, Cory and the team handled their kitchen remodel and then took on trim work in other rooms, calling the additions reasonably priced and the crew accommodating. A December 2021 customer said Matt was responsive whenever they reached out, and that items added to the scope were priced fairly and handled quickly. On Angi, a May 2021 customer described Matthew as professional and easy to do business with. The newest voice is the unhappy one: in June 2026 a Google reviewer called the company terribly unprofessional. Google's four ratings average 4 stars. Angi and HomeAdvisor each show 4.8 from two reviews — the same pair, since the HomeAdvisor profile mirrors the Angi one. How long MJM has been at this depends on where you look: its own site says 20 years, the Angi and HomeAdvisor profiles say 18 years of experience, and the BBB profile says 16, since 2010. Those directory profiles also state free estimates, but no emergency service and no warranties. This is a small shop where you deal with the owner directly, suited to custom carpentry, cabinetry and single-room renovation work — the Houzz project page shows a closet converted into a bathroom with a stand-up shower, tub and a custom-made vanity. Ask Matt directly about the June 2026 complaint before you commit, and get the scope, the pricing for anything added to it, and what a return visit covers in writing.
