Mad Hatter Construction

Mad Hatter Construction is a one-person, Mashpee-based general contracting shop — Sean Braney's company, per its BBB profile — that takes on custom home builds, additions, finished basements, and kitchen and bathroom remodels on Cape Cod. The company's website says it has 22 years in business, though BBB's file lists the entity as incorporated in 2021; that's likely years of trade experience rather than the company's own age, but the two numbers don't match. Both Google reviews on file, from mid-2024, describe finished-basement projects. One homeowner had Mad Hatter turn a basement into a bedroom, kitchenette, laundry room and bath and said it came out better than expected. Another worked with the company across several projects over a few years — a basement finish and a full kitchen redo — and pointed to the team's responsiveness and easy back-and-forth as much as the finished work itself. BBB gives the company an A+ rating with no complaints or government actions on file, though it isn't accredited. With only two written reviews to go on, ask to see photos of a comparable basement or kitchen job before committing.
