Mad Hatter Construction

Two homeowners, two basements — that is most of what has been written about Mad Hatter Construction, and both accounts land the same way. In a June 2024 Google review, a customer described a finished lower level that came with a bedroom, kitchenette, laundry room and bath, and said it turned out better than they had expected. A second reviewer that same month had used the company across several projects, including a basement and a full kitchen redo, and singled out how easy the crew was to reach. The company works out of Mashpee and, by its own account, builds custom homes across Cape Cod alongside additions, finished basements, and kitchen and bathroom remodels. Its Better Business Bureau page carries an A+ grade, with no complaints and no government actions listed; the same page records a one-employee corporation managed by Sean Braney as president, and shows the company is not BBB accredited. One thing to pin down before you call: how long they have actually been building. The company's own site claims 22 years on Cape Cod, while BBB records the business as started and incorporated on 1 January 2021 — five years. A long personal history behind a young corporation would explain both numbers, but it is worth asking directly rather than assuming. The crew question is similar. Reviewers in 2024 wrote about "Mad Hatter's team", while the BBB listing puts the employee count at one, so ask who will actually be on site and which trades get subcontracted. Everything written about them is positive and short, and there are only two reviews of it, both from mid-2024. Nothing here points to a problem — there simply is not much history yet. That makes them a reasonable call for a basement finish or a kitchen on the Upper Cape if you are comfortable being an early reference, and a good reason to ask for addresses of recent jobs you can go look at.
