Magic Tile Design Inc. is a Worcester tile-and-marble corporation at 13 Mendon St, with five years in business according to its BBB profile. The profile gives the business an A+ BBB letter grade and says it is not BBB accredited. The available customer account is a single June 2025 Google review rated one star. The homeowner described hiring Magic Tile Design for a custom steam shower and laundry area, said the company initially used incorrect materials including no vapor barrier, and reported that the work had to be torn out after the issue was caught; the review also said the homeowner had to guide the team through use of the requested Schluter system. That limited and negative review history makes it important to ask for current references, confirm the proposed waterproofing system and installation experience, and clarify the complete scope before booking. Magic Tile Design may be worth considering for a tile-focused project, but the available first-hand account supports careful verification of technical details and quality controls.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Magic Tile Design and strongly advise others to stay away. I hired them to build a large custom steam shower and a laundry area, specifically requesting the Schluter system. They claimed to be experienced with Schluter and said it was a great fit for steam showers—but this quickly proved false. They initially used the wrong materials, including no vapor barrier, and had to tear out their own work after I caught the issue. Once they got the correct products, it became clear they didn’t know how to use them. I had to guide them step by step, contact Schluter myself, and explain the proper installation process just to preserve the system’s warranty. They constantly asked me to order materials last-minute, attempted to install components incorrectly (e.g., bench brackets upside down), and required babysitting through every phase. The tile work was sloppy. The mosaic floor was uneven, causing water to pool instead of drain. The shower niche had inconsistent depths and crooked lines. The shower opening wasn’t square, throwing off the glass installation by half an inch over four feet. I ultimately had to hire another tile professional to correct drainage issues and ensure proper slope. In the laundry area, they cut a hole in the wall and attempted to shove in the membrane rather than properly using Schluter corners, which is not an acceptable or warrantied method. Again, I had to intervene and explain basic details of proper waterproofing technique. Even worse, they cut tile with a wet saw directly over my brand-new hardwood floors—after being explicitly told not to—causing water damage and gouges. Fixing this requires sanding and refinishing the entire floor across multiple rooms. Throughout the process, Jefferson was defensive and combative. Even after acknowledging issues, he went ahead and grouted over visible defects we had discussed fixing. To make matters worse, what was supposed to be a one-week project dragged out for over a month, with no sense of urgency or professionalism. In short: they misrepresented their experience, ignored clear instructions, delivered subpar work, and damaged my home. I would never recommend Magic Tile Design or Jefferson to anyone.
