A 2020 Boston.com story named Paul Nelson as president of Canton-based Marathon Moving Co. It holds an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau. A 2026 review described a commercial move in a full 18-wheeler from MA to TX, and said Allied accommodated the customer in real time to get the full truck load. A 2025 review of a Boston to central Virginia move thanked Billy and Bob for packing up and Lou for driving and unpacking, and called them very efficient, professional and friendly. In a 2023 review, a customer who moved long distance from Massachusetts to Arizona wrote that they had several estimates and did not pick the least expensive one. In a 2022 r/massachusetts post, a writer who moved from the city to the Boston suburbs said Marathon Moving was great and all the movers did a thoughtful job. A recent review of a total house pack-up and storage during a renovation says almost every item got ruined. A recent customer writes that the company gave a 3-week delivery window and then called with only 4 hours' notice, though the people who did the drop off were great. In a 2025 review of an interstate move from RI to TX, the customer wrote that the items did not arrive until 10 days after the last delivery date. In a 2024 review, a customer wrote that six weeks after the move was over and paid for in full, the company called to say almost $500 more was owed due to audit adjustments. In a 2023 NBC Boston story about a customer's damaged items, Marathon Moving, the local agent of Allied, told the station "it is standard that items that have inherent defects not to be covered under valuation."

Worst moving company ever! I have moved numerous times in my life. Some on my own and some relocation for work. This particular time, I didn’t not even move….I simply needed a total house pack up and storage while a house renovation was taking place. Literally almost every item got ruined: Mirrored jewelry armoire, broken glass!; Pottery Barn Wood Bed was dented and chipped; tv Deco frame, chipped; shag rug and pad had water damage; Pottery Barn white storage cabinet completely ruined due to incorrect disassemble and storage; closet storage system completely ruined.
Complete Scam! Do not waste your time with any of their auctions. The day of the auction i watched multiple employees taking items out of the vaults and putting them away for themselves almost like they knew what they were taking. No ones seemed to care or say anything. I learned today that the majority of the vaults are employees and family of employees and are used as storage. As one employee put it while I was removing HIS unit, "it was nice having free storage". Don't stress yourself wasting your time energy effort or money. These people are going out of business for a reason.
Moved from Boston to central Virginia, using Marathon Moving and Allied. A huge thank you to Billy and Bob for packing up, and Lou for driving and unpacking. They were very efficient, professional, and friendly. This was my first time using professional movers and I was surprised at how intact and clean my things were. Definitely worth it.
I am a Senior move manager (downsize older adults) and work with many movers around the Boston area. Marathon exceeded all my expectations. Friendly, respectful and professional crew to load and unload, helpful support staff in office to follow up on questions before the move and ask for feedback afterwards. Thorough and professional sales/estimator. Can't say enough good things! Adding to this 2 years later as I got to work on an interstate move with the wonderful Jeremiah!
