Marcone Sampaio is a Boston-area custom cabinet maker and finish carpenter, listed on Houzz at a Boston, MA 01902 address with a service area running up the North Shore through Lynn, Swampscott, Marblehead and Nahant. The people who hired him describe one thing consistently: pieces built to fit a particular room rather than bought off a shelf. A homeowner writing in October 2019 detailed a laundry-room vanity built at 63x24 with no filler strips, in solid maple with Blum soft-close slides and a furniture-grade paint finish, plus a hardwood wall panel that hid the water shut-off valves behind a magnetically reattaching cut-out. In April 2019 another described a media wall with cabinet storage that "looks like it's been there forever," with the television and cable wiring hidden inside it. A February 2017 client had him build a bookcase with LED lighting embedded in the molding, plus a mantle for an existing gas fireplace. Repeat work is the other pattern. A reviewer writing in 2017 came back for a master-bath vanity, then a master closet system, then a mudroom closet; a 2016 review from an interior decorator called him the only craftsman they turn to for work in their own home; and a 2016 trade client listed vanities, walk-in closets, furniture and wood countertops across multiple jobs. Kitchen work shows up as well: a October 2016 client said the renovation ran within budget with no delays and that the crew vacuumed at the end of each day, and a February 2017 client said he met every deadline he had outlined and helped prepare the house for sale. What to weigh before calling: the written record is real but dated. Houzz publishes a 5.0 average across 12 ratings, and every one of those accounts was written between February 2016 and October 2019 — none more recent, and none on any other platform. The profile shows a single posted project alongside eight work samples, and the awards and badges shown there are Houzz's own platform markers rather than trade credentials. That makes the specifics above worth confirming as current: ask what he has built in the past year, whether he still takes full kitchen renovations or now sticks to cabinetry and built-ins, and for references from recent jobs. He is the right call for someone who wants a one-off piece — a vanity, closet system, built-in or bookcase — designed and fitted to a specific space, and who is comfortable checking a public track record that has not been updated in several years.
Marcone is a talented cabinet maker and finish carpenter that is fair, honest and reliable. For my new laundry room, he built and installed a custom sized vanity (63x24, no “fillers”/all usable space) as well as shelving with wood carved brackets. The quality of the materials is excellent...solid/hard maple, Blum soft close drawer slides and hinges, and a furniture grade paint finish. He also built and installed a hardwood wall panel that is parallel and 9” from the existing plaster wall and extends from the ceiling to above my full size appliances. The 16” deep shelves are attached to this wall and I am able to reach everything on the shelves without a step ladder because of this modification that he suggested. This wall panel also hides the water shut off valves though Marcone cut an 8”x10” piece out of the panel that reattaches magnetically. This allows for easy access to the valves if needed without any compromise in aesthetics. I couldn’t be happier with the work Marcone did at my home! I highly recommend him to anyone in need of custom cabinetry, walk-in closets or built-ins!
I am a Realtor in the Bosotn area, and had first been given Marcone's name from an Interior Designer I have used over the years. I had then given Marcone's name to one of my own clients that needed a custom built bathroom vanity. When the bathroom was complete, I got a chance to check it out. It was beautiful. When I was finishing off the renovations of my own home, I wanted a floating credenza to go under my brand new, very large 75" TV. The TV was so large, it looked out of place mounted on the wall. I spent almost 6 months shopping thru stores on line, trying to find a piece that would balance the TV and work with all my new furnishing. It needed to have pretty specific dimensions. I couldn't find anything that worked. So I called Marcone to see if he could make a custom piece. He came to my condo so I can show him what I had, and explain what I was looking to do. I could tell he quickly understood. In less than 2 weeks, I had initial drawings, and he nailed it! He also quoted me a very fair price. Before he started the actual work, I decided I wanted the piece 6 inches longer, and he was able to easily accommodate. He built the piece off site at his shop, a few weeks later, he came back to prepare the wall for mounting, and in less than a day, he had it fully mounted, with all my wires hidden behind the wall. He knew the exact wood to use and where to find the right hardware to coordinate with my other pieces. He also gave me great tips on how to feed new wires thru as technology changes. The piece looks amazing and EXACTLY what I had in mind. He was always on time, set expectations, cleaned up as he worked, easy to talk to, listened to my wants & concerns and was very professional. His work is amazing. I will use his services again and would highly recommend!
Marcone created a beautiful custom media wall for me with cabinet storage and shelves. He has great attention to detail and wonderful suggestions. I recently downsized and needed more storage. He gave me the extra storage, hid all my television and cable wires, and created a built-in that looks like it’s been there forever. I would definitely work with him again and recommend him to others. My wall unit is the white with pale green back wall on Marcone’s Houzz page.
Marcone is not only a talented carpenter but a delight to work with! We were introduced to him during a substantial remodel. Initially we asked him to build a custom vanity for our master bath. We were so impressed with the time and attention he spent on it that we asked him to come back and build a custom closet system for our master closet (1000x better quality than any closet chain). We recently had him build a custom closet for our mudroom closet. He worked with us to determine exactly how we would use these spaces and made recommendations that we hadn't even thought of. I would call Marcone for any finished carpentry project!
We have worked with Marcone on multiple custom projects over the years. The most recent was this custom bookcase that includes LED lighting embedded in the molding to provide up and downlighting of the bookcase itself. On this same project, he built a lovely custom mantle for the uninspiring gas fireplace that was already there. The photo attached here was taken before the mantle surround was completely finished, but you can see the lovely woodwork he built. Marcone is a great collaborator, and delivers the product you expect for a reasonable price. I wouldn't hesitate to work with Marcone on future projects.
