Martins Home Experts is a Massachusetts painting, carpentry and home-improvement company based in Ashland, self-described on BuildZoom as providing "top quality painting services, siding, and carpentry" for interior, exterior, residential, commercial, office and condominium jobs. The company holds an active Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license (#163225), verified against the state registry. The bulk of its track record, dozens of Google reviews running from 2019 into 2025, centers on exterior and interior house painting and finish carpentry: homeowners repeatedly describe thorough scraping and prep work, careful color matching across large multi-color jobs, and trim, window sill, staircase and banister carpentry singled out by name. Several reviewers say they hired the company more than once and describe pricing as fair and on budget, with the owner present on site during larger jobs. The record is not uniformly positive. Angi and HomeAdvisor — the same business, sharing one underlying review database — surface a small number of lower-rated accounts not visible among the Google reviews: a 2025 customer reports a roof leak recurring after the company repaired it, with the owner later saying the roof itself needed replacing; a 2019 customer describes an incomplete, late gutter and trim job tied up in a pricing dispute; and a 2021 reviewer calls a drywall job "horrible," though the company publicly responded that it had only installed drywall over framing built by someone else. Alongside painting and carpentry, BuildZoom lists siding among the company's services, and a customer review separately describes a gutter repair and replacement job. Martins Home Experts also holds an A+ Better Business Bureau letter grade. This is a strong fit for exterior or interior painting and finish carpentry, where the volume and detail of praise runs deep; anyone considering the company for a roofing or gutter job — a much smaller slice of its work — should ask specifically how a callback or warranty issue would be handled, given the disputes on record.
Excellent work. I got an estimate on a Friday for two jobs- updating a closet with new drywall and removing old shelves in one room and replacing a ceiling and repainting walls in another room. By Monday, a contract was signed and by Tuesday a team of three workers come to complete both jobs. They even helped me clear a room of furniture because I hadn't understood they'd do both jobs at the same time. Two days later, the work was done. They kept the worksites very clean. Very polite. Would definitely recommend.
My husband and I were very happy with the work Martins Home Experts did for us. We hired them to paint our house and build a bulkhead for our back cellar door. They did an excellent job on both counts. They were extremely thorough, fixing all the woodwork around the house, like window sills and door frames, that needed to be repaired. The crew was very polite. And I found that John Martins and the office took the time to listen to our concerns and got back to us quickly if we had any questions. One thing I did not want was painters painting in the rain, and John and his crew always took the weather into consideration.
Very reasonable and excellent work. Martins was on time and on budget .
Martins Home Experts are very good contractors. High quality work. They are true professionals that I have had work on my house for many years. Honest Contractor with integrity. I strongly recommend them.
This company was highly recommended to me by a colleague to repair my roof that had a leak. Within less than a year the roof was leaking in the exact stop that supposedly they repaired. I called the owner and he supposedly repaired it. Last week I noticed that the leak was now on the peak where they had pulled off the tiles off to fix the roof. I called the owner again and he told me that repairs were not warranted and get a new roof. He never once mentioned to me that I might need a new roof. Yesterday I noticed that the initial leak it is back. I am done!!!!
