Mass Renewables is a Bellingham solar installer, and a 2026 customer hired it to remove and replace panels for a roof replacement, saying it communicated well and did everything on time even though it had not done the original install. The company's website describes residential and commercial roof-mount, ground-mount and tracker solar, Tesla Powerwall batteries, EV charging, mini splits and the associated electrical work. The site says its founders bring over 30 years of building industry experience and 14 years in Massachusetts solar. The BBB lists Jeffrey Herman and Michael Kelley as its owners and gives 2009 as the year the business started. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 170683, is active on the state registry. Its Massachusetts electrician licence, number 775, held by Mass Renewables Inc, is also active on the state registry. A 2026 customer with a solar tracker said Mass Renewables installed the system ten years earlier and had maintained it since, addressing issues quickly and at no cost. A 2025 customer said a storm took out the control boards on their tracker and Jeff had it operational in less than a week. A 2025 customer whose inverter failed in the ninth year said the company changed it out for the price of a service call, installing a free replacement under an extended inverter guarantee Dianne had suggested at purchase. A 2024 customer said the crew installed two additional panels to help with underperformance and replaced three failing optimizers. On new installs, a 2025 customer said the panels were installed and operational four months after the first phone call, right on the timeline the company gave. A 2024 customer said electrical conduits were routed to look good as well as work. In a 2022 review, a customer said Mass Renewables added Tesla Powerwalls to their solar array and overhauled their electrical system. A 2025 customer who added battery backup to an existing system from a different provider that is out of business said the job took eight months instead of the three to four quoted, and that paperwork mistakes cost roughly $1,600 in SMART battery incentive payments, leading to a small claims filing. That customer's updated 2025 review said the company then reimbursed the missed rebates, the court filing fees and interest, and raised no concern about the quality of the installation.

We needed our panels removed/replaced for a roof replacement. Mass Renewables was awesome to work with. They were very professional, communicated well and did everything exactly on time. While they didn't do our initial install it is comforting to know we have someone we can call if we need assistance in the future.
I have had my system for ten years. Mass Renewables installed it and has maintained it for the whole time, and I have been dealing with the same people all along. I have a solar tracker unit, and a handful of times have had issues with it. Jeff Herman and his team have always been responsive, and addressed all issues quickly and at no cost to me. The crew is friendly and explains all work that is being done. Communication is excellent. I could not have asked for a better experience. If you are considering solar, just know that this is an experienced team that stands behind what they sell.
When you invest in a major project like solar energy, it's important to find a company that will not only provide top-notch sales and installation services, but will also be there to provide support down the line. We found such a provider with Mass Renewables. Our system went live in April, 2015. It was a complex installation with both roof solar panels and a 24-panel tracker that shifts periodically during the day to follow the sun for more efficient production. We have definitely achieved a return on our investment, but we have the support of Mass Renewables for any technical issues that may arise. They are unfailingly helpful, and have continued to stand behind their installation and products for over a decade now. We are grateful for having them in our corner.
