Masterwork Painting and Restoration is a Woburn shop that's spent more than two decades on the kind of painting work most contractors skip: refinishing existing cabinetry instead of replacing it, and restoring historic woodwork and buildings. Every one of the five Houzz reviews on file - all from January through November 2021 - gives it 5 stars, and Houzz's own tally puts it at a perfect 5.0 across 38 ratings. The reviews cluster around one job: repainting or refinishing kitchen cabinets in place. Homeowners describe cabinets coming out better than expected, crews that showed up on time every morning while the family lived in the house through the work, and follow-up after the fact - one reviewer nicked a cabinet door two days after the job finished and had it repaired and returned within 24 hours. Two named workers, David and Chris, come up by name for handling the usual quirks of refinishing existing cabinetry. The company's restoration work goes back further than the review history: a 2015 feature in Traditional Building magazine credits Masterwork with repainting Christ Church in Cambridge, MA using Sherwin-Williams' Duration line, and a 2011 Boston Magazine feature names one of its painters, Neil Clapp, for a custom-painted checkerboard booth in a home renovation. The company also holds Lead-Safe certification and membership in the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, including a past PDCA craftsmanship-forum presidency and a 2007 PDCA award for residential restoration. There's nothing in the written record to flag - no complaint, dispute, or pricing gripe turns up across any source. The one thing worth confirming directly is scope: what's on file is almost entirely about cabinet and woodwork refinishing rather than whole-room remodeling, so for a full kitchen renovation rather than repainting existing cabinets, it's worth asking how that fits their usual work. For anyone weighing paint-and-refinish over cabinet replacement, or restoration work on an older or historic property, this is a well-documented specialist to call - just confirm current pricing and lead time directly, since neither shows up in what's on file.

Masterwork Painting and Restoration did an absolutely beautiful job on my kitchen. Their cabinetry carpentry work and painting was impeccable. They have outstanding customer service and have an eye for detail. They explained the process end-to-end so I would know what to expect. Thank you for making my dream of a modern minimalist kitchen come to life. I would highly recommend them. Their work is stunning!
We are more than pleased to have worked with Masterwork Painting and Restoration on our kitchen update. The communication with us throughout the whole process was clear, they were thorough, detailed and clean. We had to live in the house while they were painting, and they were on time every morning. Every person who came to our house was professional, when it was necessary to use an outside source to accommodate some new appliances and cabinet repairs, their sources were as experienced as they are. Our kitchen turned out better than we thought, it is not often that you get to say that.....
Outstanding work! Cabinets look top notch and we are delighted with everything It was a pleasure to engage Masterworks As the company is very professional in both business and technical interactions
Masterworks did an AMAZING job cleaning up and refinishing the woodwork in our 80 year old house. It came out looking even better than we had expected and we agree having them come in was one of the best decisions we’ve made The crew that came in was so nice and a joy to have around. They answered any question we had and left the place tidy everyday. I can wholeheartedly say that I would hire them again in a heartbeat!!
Excellent experience. Great communication throughout, patience explaining the process and most importantly the finish and craft of the work is outstanding. We had what I assume are the usual quirks of refinishing existing cabinetry and they were all handled great. David and Chris (?, sorry) were super - efficient, respectful (we were living in the house), communicative and again did stellar work. Highly recommend.
