McDonough Tree Removal owns its crane, and that is mostly why people end up calling. Seven reviewers describe it doing the job that stops other companies cold: lifting large trees over a roof on a busy street after one had fallen on the house (November 2025), working a yard with barely room to swing (April 2023), reaching over a septic system and leach field so no heavy equipment had to cross it (July 2022). The Bedford company's site says it was established in 1975 and is family-owned, and the Better Business Bureau names Shaun McDonough as owner. Shaun's name shows up in nearly half the reviews, usually attached to how fast he answers. A September 2025 customer wrote that he replied the same day, the tree came down the next day and the stump was out within a few days. In an April 2022 review, a homeowner watched him run the crane himself and drop four trees between 8 and 11 in the morning; a July 2022 Angi reviewer said the crew arrived on time and was finished within four hours. The work reviewers describe is hazard removal — dead, leaning or already-fallen trees where a mistake is expensive. A May 2023 customer had an old oak that leaned over the house taken down. A November 2022 reviewer had a very large dead ash removed from a tricky spot between houses and power lines, and said McDonough came in with the lowest quote and had the crane and debris equipment to do it. Care around what stays comes up too: a May 2022 Angi reviewer kept a smaller maple standing beside three maples and a black cherry that came out, with no damage to it. The price holds up when people shop it. Besides that November 2022 lowest quote, an October 2025 customer called McDonough the best of three he had quoted, and an April 2023 repeat customer chose them on price. Four reviewers describe the yard left clean afterward, and several have hired the crew more than once over the years for fallen trees and debris. If you have a big tree in a bad place — over the house, into the wires, across the far side of a septic field — this is the crane outfit those reviewers keep describing; the written reviews run from 2022 through November 2025. Before booking, walk the crane access with Shaun, and settle the stump: the company's site lists stump grinding, while a June 2025 reviewer praised "the people they work with" for stump removal, and in that September 2025 job the stump came out a few days after the tree.
Shaun and the team removed a tree that had fallen on the house and several others that posed a significant risk. The work involved craning large trees over the roof and skillful maneuvering on a busy street. They were extremely careful, professional, efficient and fun to work with and their price was very reasonable. I wish there were more stars.
Shaun quickly assessed what was needed for a large tree removal, and he and his team did an amazing job. We will look no further next time we need tree removal services!
We had experience with other tree comany but McDonough tree Rovmoval Inc by far the best. They were extremely professional and efficient, price was fair. They have their own crane which is a plus. Highly recommend and would use their services again
Shaun and team are honest professionals - highly recommend! Shaun was prompt to come out for an estimate and then complete the job perfectly shortly thereafter. The best out of 3 I quoted - will use from now own, won't even need to quote it around! A+ work.
Shaun answered my request the same day and the tree was removed the next day, absolutely fantastic service, and the stump was removed within a few days. You can't make a better choice
