Verified record
McLaughlin Transportation Systems, based in Nashua, operates as a local agent for Mayflower on interstate and long-distance moves, and its written record — 43 reviews from 2021 through 2026 — is genuinely split between two different parts of the same company. The physical work gets consistent, specific praise. Reviewers across the full span of years name individual crew members — Ken, Tyler, Frank, Nathan, and many others — and describe careful, efficient handling of everything from office furniture to a multigenerational grandfather clock. Several 2025 and 2026 reviews describe entire cross-country or interstate moves that went smoothly start to finish, crediting clear pricing and responsive coordinators along the way. But the coordination side of the business is where the serious, recent problems concentrate. Reviews from June through August 2026 describe missed pickups — one reviewer said the company failed to show up on three separate scheduled dates without notice; another, moving under a military contract, said packers failed to show on consecutive days during a scheduled pack-out. Reviews going back to 2022 describe similar communication breakdowns: quotes that went unanswered for days, price transparency complaints, and, in a handful of 2024-2025 reviews, damaged or missing items — a water-soaked box of clothes, a missing kitchen item, a broken table — with reviewers noting the company doesn't automatically include insurance on a move. One name comes up repeatedly on both sides of this split — a move coordinator credited in several glowing reviews for calm, thorough communication, and named directly in others for being unresponsive or short with customers. That inconsistency, more than any single incident, is the clearest signal here: the people physically moving your belongings are reliably good, but the coordination and scheduling around the move itself has a real, recent track record of failing customers, especially in the past several months. Given how sharply the reviews split by which part of the process they describe, anyone booking with McLaughlin should get pickup dates, pricing, and insurance coverage confirmed in writing well before moving day, and have a direct line to a specific coordinator rather than relying on a general contact.
We had a terrible experience with McLaughlin Transportation Systems in Nashua and recommend that you go elsewhere for a moving company. Do not use this company. I repeat, have nothing to do with this moving company. There were dozens of issues but the primary, most costly one is that they broke an almost new $5000 cherry dining table into three pieces and refused to replace the broken parts or return the table to the condition it was when they loaded. It has been 3 months of delay tactics, ridiculous repair proposals, and denials of responsibility, even though they agree they broke the table. McLaughlin’s position is that we must seek compensation from their partner company, Mayflower, even though we contracted with and paid McLaughlin. Their latest recommendation is to seek out the president of Mayflower, but they don’t even know who that is. Overall a horrible experience.
McLaughlin Transportation failed to pick-up my items on THREE separate dates. On each of these dates I was not informed the pick-up would not occur and after waiting for the crew’s arrival, was obliged to call, text, and email multiple representatives several times to obtain any information. The published office telephone numbers for McLaughlin Transportation Systems, Inc. went unanswered and no voicemails were returned. I spent considerable time attempting to obtain basic information about the status of my move and was ultimately forced to make last-minute arrangements with another company to ensure I was able to move on time. This was a terrible moving experience. Edit in response to owner's reply: I have already contacted Mayflower and they simply dismissed by concerns and did not offer any opportunity for recourse. I have not received support from either McLaughlin or Mayflower in this situation
Lori is a poor communicator and seemingly unmotivated to earn business. Called for an interstate move, had the virtual walkthrough, and called back four times to ask for a quote, received none. Edit, August 18 2026, one week post first review - if prompt communication is paramount to McLaughlin, they would have replied sooner than one week.
Used these guys for a move three years ago, but I noticed I posted for the wrong company. Do not use this company. Ever. I booked a cross country move with Mayflower and McLaughlin is the local company Mayflower contracted with. Overall, McLaughlin is by far the worst moving company I’ve ever used. Horrible in every possible way. Beginning with the move out, the movers showed up almost an hour late to the end of the two hour window they originally gave me. Once in my apartment, the movers used my bathroom without my permission and left boxes unattended in the hallway, outside my building as door props in the rain, and in the parking lot outside their truck. It wasn’t until I asked them to take the boxes out of the open and put them in the truck did they actually move them. Furthermore, a Persian rug that I marked as high value was put directly onto the wet and dirty concrete outside my building and wasn’t wrapped until I asked the movers to do it. Despite the fact that all my things were already packed, the move out took three hours, more than twice as long as movers took moving me into the apartment with the same items. This is the first time I’ve ever not tipped movers, and having once worked in the service industry, I am normally a very generous tipper. But it gets even worse. Two weeks after they moved me out and two days before my belongings were scheduled to arrive, the company told me that my stuff had missed the original pick up from their warehouse and was going to be delayed indefinitely. They had originally promised delivery on August 10th (in writing), but didn’t end up delivering until August 16. Crazy enough, it wasn’t until I emailed them for an update did they first contact me to tell that my belongings were still sitting in a crate in their warehouse. My hunch is that they had no idea. In addition to this incompetence, throughout the entire process of rescheduling the delivery date, getting a response from their sales rep was extremely difficult, which frustrated me even more, as my emails were hardly ever responded to. I ended up having to go directly to Mayflower HQ to get a refund because McLaughlin was so unresponsive and unhelpful. When booking through Mayflower, make sure you check which company they contract with. Do not use these guys. Ever. TLDR: awful moving company in every possible way. Sloppy and unprofessional movers, incompetent warehouse staff, and unresponsive customer service.
I’m currently contracted through this company for a military move and the experience has been the worst Ive had through 14 years. I was scheduled for a pack out on June 24th and 25th with a load on June 26th. On the 24th, only one packer showed up. On the 25th, no one showed up while I stayed at the home until 10pm with very little contact from the company. On the 26th, again one packer showed up. It is now June 30th and the house is still not finished and calls and emails to the company have gone unanswered. When they do answer the phone, I’m told to expect a call back immediately, but I don’t hear anything for the rest of the day. I’m not the only military family that has been impacted by this company, with numerous complaints of no-call, no-shows and packing and loading taking twice as long as scheduled due to them not sending enough people. Do not trust this company to handle your move.
