- Job abandoned — quoted a repair, then vanished until admitting he left for Florida
Methuen Fence Co is a Methuen, Massachusetts company that installs and repairs vinyl, chain link, wood and aluminum fencing, and says on its site it's done "Quality Work since 1968." The one written review on file, from January 2026, describes a chain-link repair that stalled out: after agreeing to a quote in November 2025 for storm damage, the customer was told parts would take a week to order, then heard almost nothing until finally learning the contractor had left for Florida for the winter and wouldn't be back until the ground thawed in spring — something never mentioned when the job was booked. With only one review to go on, it's hard to say how typical this is, but given the account, it's worth confirming timelines and seasonal availability in writing before booking any work here.

We were quoted a cost at the beginning of November 2025 to fix an area of our chain link fence that was damaged from a tree branch during a storm. We agreed to the quoted cost and asked him to do the work. A few days later, he said "it will take a week to order, I'll contact you when it comes in." On November 21st, he emailed again saying he hasn't forgotten about it......but nothing since then. We've been leaving messages, and he finally called back, only to tell us that he's in Florida for the winter and will be back when the ground thaws in the spring. There was no mention of that in person, nor on his voicemail that he's closed the business for months.

What does a fence cost in Greater Boston?
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Methuen Fence Co. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Walk the line and pace it off — a pace is about 3 feet.
Estimated range
$4,050 – $7,950
Typical fencing project around $6,000
