Metro Masonry & Foundation, Waterproofing works out of Cambridge doing the kind of stonework people notice driving by — chimneys, brick walkways, retaining walls, custom fire pits — and, true to the "waterproofing" in the name, basement and foundation moisture work too. Terry, who runs the crew, is the name that shows up review after review: giving a quote the day after a call, then showing up with a team, often earlier than expected. The specifics back that up. One customer's rubble foundation was crumbling and, after Metro pointed, reset, and skim-coated the wall, called the results "like new." Another had 10 courses of brick removed and a 230-year-old chimney recapped, cleaned up afterward. A garage's cinderblock walls got repointed and sealed with Drylok waterproofing, and a basement that had been letting in water through what looked like a drainage issue got fixed within the original quote. Custom work shows up too — a granite wall, a backyard BBQ pit, a marble fireplace mantel. Two recent reviews complicate that picture. In June 2026, one customer wrote that Metro defaulted on a cash settlement after a drain system and brick walkway installation went wrong. Around the same time, another reviewer said repointing had reduced foundation moisture but that a few missed spots in a crawl space went unaddressed despite repeated calls, texts, and emails. In a 2025 review, a customer needed Metro to return and finish some unfilled stair cracks — which the crew did. Before hiring, it's worth asking directly how Metro handles a job that needs a return visit or a payment dispute, since the two most recent public reviews both raise exactly that. For the everyday call — a chimney rebuild, a new walkway, a wet basement — the longer track record here is strong.
Terrible workmanship and improper installation of drain system & brick walkways that were very expensive. Defaulted on cash settlement agreement and ceased payment. Do not hire this company.
I originally gave 5 stars because the repointing significantly reduced moisture in my foundation. However, I later found a few missed areas in a crawl space and have received no response to calls, texts, and emails requesting follow-up. All I am asking for is to come and finish those areas that I paid for.
Our experience with Terry and his team was truly the best we have had with a company. Terry was out and gave us a quote the day after contacting him. From then on everything went smoothly and the work was done beautifully. Terry had his team out earlier than expected, which was awesome. All of his men were hard workers and did wonderful, quality work. We had stairs replaced, a patio revamped, and chimney work done. Everything was top notch. We highly recommend Metro Masonry for anyone looking for this these types of projects. Terry and his team are trustworthy and follow through with everything you ask for. We came across their page on facebook by chance and decided to try them out. This type of experience is hard to find these days. If you choose Metro Masonry for work you need done, you will definitely be satisfied.
Terry and team did great work, at a fair price, and were very responsive. Would recommend for basement & masonry/foundation jobs.
Very hard working company. Would recommend, my friend recommended this company to me and I couldn’t be any happier with their work. Thanks Metro
