The backyard of an eight-year-old house had never been properly graded by the builder and had no irrigation. In a November 2022 review, the owners described what MF Landscape did about it: graded the yard, pulled out the rocks, spread loam, put in irrigation, laid sod and added flower and planting beds. Fixing ground that was left wrong is a good deal of what this Walpole company gets called for.
It describes itself as a full-service landscape maintenance and design-build outfit working for homeowners, businesses and property managers across Norfolk County — design and construction, hardscaping, lawn installation and maintenance, plantings, site work, mosquito and tick spraying, and commercial snow removal — and lists Walpole, Medfield, Dover, Westwood, Norwood, Mansfield and Foxboro as its service area. Its Better Business Bureau file is an A+.
The owner, Michael Freiberger, is named in most of the reviews, and the long-timers carry the story: in a January 2023 review a customer of about six years wrote that Michael is quick to respond and make things right; an August 2023 client had three-plus years of lawn maintenance before a backyard remodel with a pool; a July 2023 Angi reviewer of four years wrote that at their first meeting Mike did not recommend an expensive overhaul. A 2020 Angi client said Mike walked a major lawn renovation with them and pointed out minor work they could do themselves first.
The hard landscaping shows up too. A November 2025 reviewer had a lot of the yard filled, graded and hydroseeded plus two masonry jobs — a stairwell running up from the basement door to grade and a new front sidewalk. A January 2023 customer got a patio, stone sitting walls and a fire pit. An April 2022 reviewer had drainage designed and installed to fix an athletic field that flooded, and called it on budget. Across four sites the written accounts run 2013 to 2025, with 4.8 from 71 ratings on Google and 4.9 from 13 on Houzz.
The complaints sit at the front end of the job, not in the work. A January 2024 reviewer cancelled a quote appointment after the company tried to move it a second time, and a July 2022 customer who had signed a contract seven weeks earlier said no crew showed up the week service was to begin, though the contract was cancelled promptly when asked. Separately, a neighbor wrote in December 2024 that crews blow leaves onto adjoining property without permission, and said they had asked before. A 2017 customer put the price question plainly: not the cheapest.
If you have a yard that needs regrading, drainage or a patio and then someone to keep it up year-round, this is a fit. Get the start date and the visit schedule written into the contract, and settle up front where the leaves and debris go.
