A tree took out a homeowner's electrical service on a Friday night; they called Mike on Saturday morning and, by that 2018 HomeAdvisor review, were back on line that afternoon. Michael J. Electric is a Hinesburg, Vermont electrician, and Mike is the name customers use for the person who shows up. On HomeAdvisor and Angi, customers writing between 2008 and 2020 describe house electrical work of many kinds. A 2008 customer had an entire one-level house rewired. Another 2008 review credits Mike and crew with straightening out garage electrical problems and bringing the system up to code. A 2008 homeowner who called about bathroom fans and wall heaters says he confirmed one heater did not need replacing, explained options before installing the other, and left the floors cleaner than he found them. In a 2017 review, a customer says Mike's suggestions made more sense than those of the two electricians before him and let them eliminate the power pole in the middle of their back yard. A 2019 reviewer describes him finishing a job standing in the rain under water coming off the roof. On Google the business shows 4.8 stars from 11 ratings. In February 2024 a customer wrote that Mike came out the same day of a multi-day power outage to try to help get their generator running after they moved into a new home. HomeAdvisor and Angi each show 4.7 stars from 37 ratings. A December 2024 Google reviewer, who says the company was quick to answer in the past, describes a last project where it kept saying it would come next week and did not show up on the day promised; after waiting five months to finish one apartment, they closed the permit and hired another company, with outlets still not replaced and some rooms without light for months. A 2014 review says the job was never finished and calls were not returned. A 2011 Angi customer says only two new outlets of a planned bathroom rewire were done, for $415, and that the journeyman drilled into existing wires. In a 2013 Angi review, a bathroom fan and light repair quoted at $150 came to $210. Two 2008 and 2009 reviewers also found the fee or estimate high. The company's own website says it offers free estimates and 24/7 emergency service and that it is insured. Its Vermont electrician licence, EM-04523, is active under Michael J Trombly.
These guys are the best
In the past every time was quick to answer and delivered project as needed. but this last project kept saying will come next week, next week, and then doesn’t show up on the day they said they would, we ended up closing the permit and hiring another company to finish the job after waiting along for 5 months to finish one apartment, the outlets still not replaced and some rooms didn’t have light at all for months.
