Two homeowners have written about Miller Custom Craftsmen, and both describe the same kind of job: a small crew led by Chris Miller, brought in to reshape one room and trusted with the finish work. BuildZoom places the business at 18 Bexley Road in Roslindale and names Christopher Miller as its owner. Its Houzz profile sits under woodworkers and carpenters, listing finish carpentry, custom built-ins, cabinets, fireplace mantels, trim and crown molding, with a Greater Boston service area that reaches Winthrop. The written record is genuine but dated — it runs 2017 to 2018. In an April 2018 review a homeowner described hiring Chris and his team to redo a mudroom and laundry room so a half bath could be added in a small space, called the workmanship excellent across the crew and its subcontractors, and said they had had the team back for other work since. A 2017 review of a full kitchen described the company handling everything from leveling the floor to putting the decorative knobs on the new cabinets, and spotting and fixing weather damage to the siding along the way. Houzz shows a 5.0 average from those two ratings, and ten posted projects. BuildZoom's permit sample shows work in Revere and Somerville, and the site gives the company its own score of 91 — an internal ranking, not a customer rating. Two things are worth asking before booking. Ask who they have worked for recently: the newest written account here is from April 2018. And ask about registration — Houzz lists a Massachusetts CSL and HIC with number 106369, BuildZoom lists a home improvement contractor registration numbered 169233, and neither is a state check, so confirm the current number with Massachusetts Consumer Affairs yourself. For a small, detail-heavy interior job — built-ins, trim, a tight bath or kitchen — that is precisely the work the two accounts on file describe.

I hired Chris and his team to redo my mudroom/laundry room in order to add a half bath in the small space. Chris, his team, and his subs were all wonderful to work with, and I've had them back to do other things. The workmanship by everyone is excellent, communication is professional and responsive, and they finished on time, if not a little early. It was a tough space to work in -- a 6x9 room in a 1891 cottage -- and they had to be creative to fit everything in. They even handled an unexpected and unrelated dishwasher flood while here without missing a beat. I've recommended Miller Custom Craftsmen to friends, neighbors, and my clients. I can't wait to work with them again!
I hired MCC to redo my kitchen. In short - they did a fantastic job and we absolutely LOVE our new kitchen! MCC did everything from leveling the floor to putting our decorative knobs on the new cabinets. Chris even discovered some weather damage to our siding which he fixed (and did correctly, as the previous owners took some shortcuts). What stood out the most to me was that he and his team took the time to put up plastic barriers over the doorways to contain the dust and keep it from going into the rest of the house. They also cleaned up after themselves every day. Every. Day. Not only professional, but just a good guy, personable and easy to work with. He and his wife managed all the vendors (scheduling of plumber and electrician) and ensured everything was up to code and properly inspected. My husband and I cannot recommend them enough and will definitely be using them for future projects.
