MKF Residential is a family-owned home-building and remodeling outfit based in Kingston, whose Houzz listing carries a Master Roofer certification from CertainTeed alongside broader work — additions, decks, windows, basements, attics and dormers. The company's Houzz page shows two projects on file, framed around whole-home and bathroom work rather than a single trade. The written record is thin but split hard between two extremes. In a 2015 review, a homeowner described a complete gut-and-remodel of a master bathroom, calling the crew consistently easy to work with from planning through the final walkthrough and saying she'd hire them again. A far more recent account tells a different story: a 2023 Houzz review accuses the company of pushing unpermitted work, citing electrical and plumbing pricing well under what a licensed tradesperson would charge, and says the crew — naming a carpenter, Jay — walked off the job before it was finished. Worth asking about before signing anything: get the scope of any electrical or plumbing work in writing and confirm it's being pulled by a licensed sub, and ask directly about permitting on the project. The Houzz-listed license number for the company hasn't been checked against the state registry, so it shouldn't be taken as confirmation on its own. Google shows a 5-star rating from a single review while Houzz shows 1 star from its own single review — two platforms, two opposite pictures, so the specific accounts above matter more than either star badge. This is a fit for someone working from a strong personal reference; anyone else should press on licensing and permits before committing.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from MKF Residential. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.

Typical roofing project around $13,800
This is a company who tries to do unpermitted work and tells you they’ll do all electrical and plumbing for half what a legitimate plumber would do it for. Do not trust jay he is a terrible carpenter. They walked off job before it was complete.
MKF just finished a complete gut and remodel of my master bath. All of the guys have been fantastic to work with. I could not be happier with the end result. I will definitely be using them again when it's time for my next project. I can not say enough about how wonderful they have been to work with, from the initial planning stages to the day they finished. JJ was always in contact and all of the guys wanted to make sure I was 100% happy before they left. My bathroom turned out exactly how I envisioned it and they made sure to turn my vision into reality.
