Two other companies tore up a ceiling hunting for a leak and came up empty. In a December 2025 review, a homeowner wrote that Jovel's plumber Phil found it — a trap behind a pedestal sink — within fifteen minutes, and flagged a bad patch job the previous crew had left behind. That story shape repeats on this Wakefield company's page: someone shows up, names the problem in plain language, and fixes it. Jovel Inc. is family-run. Its site says Fidel Jovel started the company in 2012 after watching commercial facilities juggle too many contractors, that co-founder Franklin Jovel handles sales, and that it is now 13 years in. Worth knowing before you dial: the company presents itself first as a commercial facility maintenance and construction outfit working across New England, with residential plumbing, HVAC, electrical and handyman work as a second line. On Google they sit at 4.8 stars across 44 ratings, and the reviews are unusually specific about who did the work — Phil, Jose and Franklin get named again and again. The recent ones hold the same line: a July 2026 customer described bathroom pipes fixed quickly, the cause explained first, everything left clean. Older accounts widen the range. A December 2025 review covered a leaking old sewer line handled fast, a May 2025 customer had a water heater replaced on short notice, and a 2023 homeowner described a bathroom renovation. Two things deserve a question. The state registry lists Jovel Inc.'s Massachusetts plumbing license, 5224-PL-C, as expired — the company held its own registration and let it lapse, which is a different fact from never having needed one, and it is the first thing to settle before signing anything. The company's site meanwhile says its in-house crews are licensed for plumbing, HVAC, electrical and construction, so ask them directly to square the two. The other is scheduling, and it is dated. Both sour notes land in April 2024: one customer reported several blown-off appointments with no call either way, plus an estimate they put at roughly double what the repair warranted, and another said the water-heater job they had booked was transferred to someone else. Every review since has been positive. For a leak nobody else can find, a failing water heater, or a sewer line acting up, the reviews make a decent case that Jovel sends someone who diagnoses quickly and explains it. Get the license status and a written estimate in hand before the truck rolls.
