Nando Services Handymen is a Medford handyman and carpentry outfit — its Thumbtack listing runs from cabinet building and trim work to deck repair and framing, with finish carpentry and custom cabinetry the categories it leans on hardest. The written record is thin, just two reviews, both from 2024, and it splits hard down the middle. In a February 2024 review, a customer called the work responsive and reasonably priced, describing the crew as easy to deal with and the results good quality. A June 2024 review tells a very different story: a customer describes hiring Nando for a run of jobs — patching a textured ceiling, retiling a bathroom, repairing drywall — and says only a fraction got finished before work stalled, a 50% up-front payment wasn't fully accounted for, and the drywall repair itself failed, falling back into the wall. Before booking, it's worth pinning down a firm scope and payment schedule up front, and checking progress at each stage rather than paying ahead for undelivered work. With so little written history on file — one clean job well reviewed, one that reportedly went sideways — starting with a small job before committing to anything larger is the safer approach.
I don’t really leave reviews but I do feel the need to protect others. Nando is somewhat knowledgeable but has VERY poor work ethics to a point where I had to cut my losses and let him go. His work ethics involves, working for just a few hours, then spends the rest of the day sitting in his car to then comes back begging for more money. Even when jobs were not complete, he would make up stories about struggling with finance, send pictures of empty bank accounts as well as hospital pictures of IVs shot up in his hand, but then show up with no issues the very next day. His payment structure is not something I like to work with especially with someone new. He wants 50% up-front but no work to prove completion. I funded him in cycles but in the end he did get 50% of the payment but only 1/5 of the job was ever completed. One of his jobs was to patch up my textured kitchen ceiling and fix it. The reason I hired him was because he was the only one who said he could match the textured ceiling. In the end he chose the route to sand the whole thing but then wouldn’t complete the job as agreed. You can decide if this looks fixed or not. Another job I initially gave him was to tile my bathroom. My wife found the job completely horrendous that I had to take away the job from him and find someone myself. Lastly, I asked him to patch up some cuts in the drywall and he never strapped the drywall to a piece of wood. The drywall fell into the wall! Anyways, I had to cut my loses with Fernando before the my big projects started with installing hardwood floor and kitchen cabinets because each step of the way he became more and more unreliable and very unstable. The last thing he told me was he needed to see a Psychiatrist and did not bother giving back any of my up-front funds that he did not complete. In the end I did get the jobs done and found a great carpentry company who very much understood my situation and were kind to take a big cut on their end because I lost my funds with Fernando. Please reach out if you’d like their information!
He was very responsive, and made sure to do everything possible to produce the best quality work at a reasonable price. He is nice and easy to work with. I highly recommend him.
