Neecy Mechanical

James Dunn named his plumbing company after his mother. A 2019 piece in the Chelsea Record described him as a Navy veteran who had founded Neecy Mechanical 32 years earlier and named it for her, and a separate 2019 write-up called Bernice "Neecy" Dunn, then 91, the matriarch of a fifth-generation Chelsea family. The company's own site says it was founded in 1987 and is run today by James, Jesse, Derek and Nicole Dunn. What the family is known for locally is plumbing. In 2015 the Chelsea Record quoted a business owner saying that Jim Dunn of Neecy Mechanical and his crew had bent over backward to help her startup get going, and a 2022 BuildZoom customer wrote that they were "the best plumber around. Great family great service." That October 2022 review is the only written customer account on file, though BuildZoom has 70 permits recorded against the company and puts it in the top 10% of its area. The work goes wider than plumbing. The company lists fire prevention, sprinkler and hydrant testing, general contracting, and landscaping and snow removal, and says it is licensed in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Florida. BuildZoom shows a Massachusetts plumbing business licence, #2912, carrying an expiry date of May 2026 that has now passed, alongside a Florida certified plumbing contractor licence marked inactive and at one point cancelled. The Better Business Bureau files the company as a non-accredited electrician at 926 Broadway in Chelsea with James Dunn as president, and puts it at 17 years in business rather than the 39 the company claims. Ask for the current Massachusetts plumbing licence number and its expiry before booking, and be specific about which side of the business you need: the plumbing crew, the fire-protection testing, or the general contracting. For routine plumbing in Chelsea this is a long-standing family shop with a real local presence.
