Mac Home Services is the plumbing-and-HVAC call that Needham-area homeowners keep dialing back — 139 reviews piled up since 2024 across nine different platforms, and the tone barely wavers. The company says it's been around locally for 17 years and is run today by James Jones, whom its own site names as a licensed plumber and HVAC technician with more than a decade in the trade himself. It works out of Needham and covers a wide swath of Middlesex, Suffolk, and Norfolk Counties, called for everything from a stuck garbage-disposal switch to a full furnace swap. What keeps showing up in the reviews is speed and follow-through. Technicians — James, Matt, John, Nate, and others — are described arriving within a couple hours of a call: one homeowner says James was at the house in under two hours, another had a dead boiler running again within 25 minutes of dialing. The company's own site backs that with same-day appointments and free estimates, and the pattern holds across furnace replacements, boiler installs, mini-split and AC work, and the routine plumbing calls — clogged drains, water heaters, a leaking pipe under a sink. Reviewers also single out how the work is explained: a diagnosis walked through before starting, photos of the inside of a furnace shown to the homeowner, pricing laid out up front. The Massachusetts plumbing registration Mac Home Services holds under its own name, 4995-PL-C, checks out as active with the state board. Separately, BBB and the company's own site list a master plumber number, 17459-PL-M, tied to its master of record — a normal second license alongside the company's own, not a discrepancy — and BBB rates the business an A as an accredited member. Not everything has gone smoothly: one 2026 review describes a bathtub and water-line job that stretched from March into May after the technician arrived on the first visit without the right parts, needing a second trip to finish. It's the one clearly negative account in an otherwise consistent run, so it's worth asking directly about parts and scheduling on anything more involved than a same-day repair. For a straightforward plumbing or HVAC call — a water heater on the fritz, a furnace that won't start, a mini-split to install — Mac Home Services has the track record and the fast turnaround reviewers keep describing. For a bigger, multi-visit job, it's worth confirming upfront how parts and scheduling will be handled before work begins.
Jamie is a great plumber efficient knowledge and kind. Jamie was great with setting up an estimate and getting the job done. Great customer service! I would be using Jamie in the future and highly recommend him!
James, Matt, Nate & the crew did a great job installing my new boiler. They provided high quality work, and done in a timely manor. The crew is personable and professional. Thank you!
I went a whole summer with my first floor central air unit working because I was worried about finding someone honest and fair to fix it. I should mention that prior to having found Mac home services I had been using a different company for the yearly system maintenance. I had them come out to service and diagnose the issue. It turned out it was dead. They gave me a quote which was pretty high and added freon to my 2nd floor system. I wanted another quote, and I was so lucky to have found the guys from Mac Home Services. They came out and gave me a quote which was far less than I had been quoted previously. They came in the next day and were done in 2. They cleaned up after themselves, took the old appliance with them and it’s been working amazing ever since. I am so happy that I finally have an HVAC/plumbing company I can trust. When we finally turned the AC units on, I noticed a loud noise coming from the 2nd floor unit so I called Mac to see if maybe they could help me again. They came same day and told me the unit had been overcharged by the other company. They had to bleed it and now it’s up and running with no issues. I honestly could not be more appreciative of their work. As a homeowner, there is nothing more comforting than having someone so trustworthy and honest to turn to when things go wrong! Thanks you guys! Kim - Dracut, Ma
Matt and Nate were awesome to work with! Matt did an excellent job in explaining the work to be performed. He thoroughly answered my questions. Matt's other communications to me were equally excellent. I definitely will be using Mac Home Services again.
Mac home services answered when I called and showed up right on time. They took a look at our furnace that wasn't turning on and found out it was just a switch at the top of the stairs that was accidentally shut off. I asked how much do I owe them and the technician Matt said it's on the house this time. Couldn't be more happier how Mac home services helped us out
