Net Zero Heating & Air Conditioning is a Billerica shop at 55 Ellingwood Ave built around one thing: high-efficiency heat pumps. Massachusetts's licence registry lists HVAC licence 767-SM-B as active, held by Net Zero Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC. The Better Business Bureau lists the business as accredited with an A+ rating, and the company also runs a plumbing line — water heaters, drain and pipe work — alongside the HVAC business. Owner Brian and technicians Andrew, Steve, Austin, Jordan, Chris and Holly in the office are named repeatedly by customers across several years. What customers describe most often is fossil-fuel conversion done carefully on difficult old houses. A February 2026 customer replaced an oil-and-gas system with whole-house electric heat pumps after a competitive bid and said the design was tailored to their 1842 house; the same reviewer said Net Zero sent one of its plumbers during a cold snap to help with a burst pipe when no local plumber was available. Another, in April 2026, maintaining a circa-1870 house, called them the most responsive and knowledgeable of the many contractors they deal with. A July 2025 customer described a 2022 Mitsubishi Hyper Heat mini-split retrofit into an older home that replaced oil heat and window units. Sizing and quoting come up as a distinct strength. A November 2025 customer chose Net Zero over three competitors for two heat pump systems and said they sized the systems for exactly what was needed and not more. A June 2026 customer with three installed heat pumps said the price was among the best of the quotes they collected and that the company does not push unnecessary items. Several reviewers describe help claiming Mass Save rebates and heat-loan paperwork as part of the job. Speed of response recurs too — a next-day visit when air conditioning failed in a heat wave, a drain line answered within about an hour of the call, and a first-thing-in-the-morning arrival after an overnight failure caused by a rodent chewing through condenser wiring. The one caveat customers themselves raise is scheduling depth: the November 2025 reviewer noted the wait time is longer than at other companies, judging it worth it. One March 2026 install had small punch-list issues, including a loose mounting screw on an outdoor unit, which the company returned to fix the same day after the project had been paid for. If you are converting off oil or gas to heat pumps in Middlesex County and can accommodate a wait for the calendar, this is a specialist firm with a long, consistent and unusually specific track record; ask early about lead time and about which rebates they will handle for you.
“I’ve had good experiences with NetZero in Billerica.”
“Brian and the team at Net Zero were great to work with to convert our HVAC system to a ducted split heat pump system and reconfigure our return air duct.”
Andrew was terrific as a coach in helping me replace batteries in my Mitsubishi wall thermostats and explaining options around my primary heat-pump filter.
Very satisfying with Brian and everyone at Net Zero HVAC. We lost air conditioning on a very hot and humid day, not expecting anyone for a few days, Brian had someone out the following day. Had our old ac up and running in a short time. Highly recommend Net Zero!
Service technician was very good at explaining what needed to be repaired. Communication with the office was prompt.
NetZero specializes in servicing and installing heat pumps. Our old heat pump failed during particularly hot weather. NetZero, who has been servicing our system for the past several years, was able to move a couple of scheduled, but non-emergency instillations, to quickly come to our rescue replacing both the heat pump and air handler in one day. The old equipment was removed and areas inside and outside were cleaned up when they finished. Their staff is knowledgeable and excellent to work with. We had some issues with how the air was being distributed to the various zones in the house. They were back the same day we called to deal with this at no additional cost. Heat pumps have come a long way since our old one was installed. There is a noticeable difference in the power and efficiency of the new heat pump. I highly recommend them.
very responsive for service calls after initial installation, and highly skilled technician, recommend!
