New England Garage Door Repair works on garage doors, openers, springs, and remotes for homeowners in the Methuen, MA area. The company has a large volume of five-star Google reviews, and a few of them describe real, positive outcomes — one customer said their garage door was fixed on the spot by professional technicians in a single visit. But the written record also includes two detailed, specific complaints: one from August 2025 describing a $825 quote to replace a remote and "service" a 7-year-old door that the customer felt was a bait-and-switch overcharge, and another from May 2025 alleging the company installed the wrong springs without safety cables and damaged the door track — both serious, specific accounts, not vague dissatisfaction. A third review raises a different concern entirely: a reviewer who says they are not even a customer describes being pressured by staff into posting a review. That account, combined with dozens of the five-star reviews being one or two words long and in a few cases nonsensical or seemingly about an unrelated business, makes the sheer volume of five-star ratings hard to take fully at face value. Anyone considering this company should ask for a firm, itemized quote before any work begins and confirm in writing exactly what "service" or "replacement" includes, given the specific overcharging complaint on file.
This company ripped me off and the door still does not work. Tech came when he was supposed to. Told me the door was outdated ( it’s 7 years old) and most likely needed replacement. After looking it over, he told me I needed a universal remote to replace the existing one ( cost $275) and he would reprogram and service the door ( cost $550) for a total cost of $825. This price sounded exorbitant to me. I found another remote in my home and we tried it. It worked. So I agreed to having the door “ serviced” and reprogrammed , in spite of the high price. The service amounted to him oiling the hinges. I had to pay a service charge for using a credit card and the tech actually asked for a tip on top of this! The door worked for 24 hours, then the same problems with the remote returned. Angry about this failed service , I called this company to send a tech back and fix the door at no charge. Customer service agreed to send someone that day. Tech never showed up. I am out $550 with a door that still won’t work with the remote. BTW, on the invoice name of company and phone number was not NE Garage Door Repair. Appears that this company uses subcontractors that do substandard work. Stay away from this company unless you want to pay $$$$$ for no repairs. Totally unethical in my book.
THIS COMPANY IS FRAUDULENT! DO NOT USE! I have had a nightmare experience with this business. I hope Google takes down their sponsored advertisements so that no one else can be cheated out of their money. I should have seen the signs. This company, which goes under multiple aliases, installed the incorrect springs on my doors, did not install the safety cables on to these springs, attempted to replace the rollers a destroyed the track and left! This is a really dangerous situation they left me in and I have since confirmed with a properly vetted professional what was done wrong. I was so foolish in not reviewing the work with the guy before he left. Shame on me. After calling back to try and rectify the situation they refused to acknowledge the issue. The company is nothing but a series of fronts and outsourced online call centers. I have posted a similar review and warning under the companies other aliases. The company claims to be local, saying "we are in Harvard. Just down the street" but if you ask the address, they don't know... They also no longer go under the name M&L Garage Door repair and sometimes New England Garage Door Repair. DO NOT USE!! Google, please remove these adds.
