Nieves Electric LLC is a licensed electrical contractor at 53 Main Street in Boylston, working across Worcester County. Reviewers almost always name Jose, the owner, and the state registry confirms an active Massachusetts electrical licence, number 9319, held under the company's own name. The work people describe most is the heavy end of residential electrical. In September 2025 a homeowner described knob-and-tube wiring removed, the panel upgraded and new lights and switches run through house and garage, with the crew arriving on time each day and working cleanly. In April 2023 another described a 100-amp to 200-amp service upgrade finished on schedule, then a return visit for recessed lighting. EV charging comes up repeatedly — a Tesla charger in a garage in 2023, another charger installed in 2025. Emergencies are the other recurring theme, and they produce the most vivid accounts on file. After a storm tore a meter from a wall in August 2025, the company estimated and restored all services by the next day, permits and inspections included. In March 2023 a customer found water leaking into the breaker box during a storm and described the crew working in the snow to replace the meter box, wiring and the breaker box inside. In March 2025 someone whose power had failed all weekend wrote that Jose arrived within thirty minutes of the call, diagnosed the fault as the utility's rather than the house's, and got National Grid out to fix it. In January 2023 an outdoor electrical box was measured on a Sunday and replaced first thing the next morning, with permits, inspection and the utility all handled. Against that sits a consistent minority complaint, and it is about money and responsiveness rather than the wiring. The most recent review on file, from May 2026, is one star: a switch repair billed at a two-person, two-hour minimum totalling $360, the reviewer writing that the policy makes small jobs very expensive. In October 2023 another called a $3,000 quote for a storm-downed wire "Highway robbery!" and said they were told not to worry because insurance would cover it. In August 2025 a one-star reviewer wrote that after the job was done he stopped answering calls. Several others in 2023 and 2024 described appointments made and then not kept, or calls never returned. And in October 2023 a reviewer disputed a recommendation to replace heat detectors with smoke and CO alarms, writing that this is not to code for three-deckers in Worcester. Reviews come in both English and Spanish. Google shows 4.8 stars across 133 ratings, with 106 reviews on file going back to 2022, so the weight of opinion is clearly favourable and the emergency work is genuinely well documented. Get the quote in writing before anything starts, ask specifically what the minimum charge is on a small job, and confirm the appointment the day before.

I hired this company for a switch issue. The repair turned out to be damaged wiring inside the switch boxes, but they charged a two-person, two-hour minimum, which came to $360. I understand companies may have minimum charges, but this policy makes small jobs very expensive, even for something as simple as a switch repair. My bigger concern was the recommendation I received afterward. I was quoted $16,000 to replace the exterior service equipment and four panels. The interior panels appear to be good-quality Square D panels in decent physical condition, with no obvious burning, melting, corrosion, or visible damage. The issue identified seemed to be related to grounding/bonding, but I was told the grounding issue could not be corrected without replacing the panels. I would have appreciated a clearer explanation of why good-condition panels needed to be replaced instead of addressing the grounding/bonding issue separately. The thermal reading shown to me was around 80–82°F, which did not seem like clear evidence of overheating. I decided not to move forward with the full replacement and would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving any major electrical work.
José was the consumate professional. Diligent, responsive, and educational. He and his crew did great job and at a reasonable price! We will be calling him in the future with any of our electrical issues.

When faced with flickering lights and subsequent power outage, Nieves Electric, led by Jose and his team, swiftly identified and resolved the underlying issue. Their professionalism, punctuality, and transparent pricing make them a highly recommended choice.
We recently had Nieves Electric come in to remove old knob-and-tube wiring, upgrade our electrical panel, and install new lights with switches throughout our home and garage, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. From the very beginning, they were prompt, professional, and thorough in explaining the process, which immediately gave us confidence that we were in good hands. They arrived on time each day, started work right away, and maintained excellent communication so we always knew what was happening and why. The crew worked very cleanly and efficiently, keeping disruption to a minimum, and even offered helpful tips and advice for maintaining our updated system — including how to avoid overloading our circuits and what steps to take to keep everything running safely and smoothly. Beyond the quality of the work itself, what really stood out was the peace of mind they gave us — knowing that the outdated wiring is now gone and our electrical system is safe, modern, and reliable is such a huge relief. Their attention to detail, respect for our home, and clear pride in their craft made this a very positive experience, and we would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of skilled and trustworthy electricians.
