Norm picked up the phone fast. In a 2009 review, a customer said he returned the call in two minutes and was at the house that afternoon; another from May 2009 described him coming out at 10pm on a Friday for a dead refrigerator, sourcing a compressor by Monday, installing it first thing Tuesday and calling Wednesday to follow up. The Nashua, New Hampshire shop repairs appliances — refrigerators, freezers and ice makers, washers and dryers, dishwashers — and its Angi profile claims 38 years of experience, emergency service and free estimates. The headline on Angi, and on the HomeAdvisor listing that mirrors it, is 3.9 stars from 137 ratings. The written accounts behind it are old: the 25 on file were posted in 2009 and 2010. Those accounts split hard. The favorable ones, written across 2009 and 2010, are about speed and diagnosis — a refrigerator diagnosed in a minute and repaired in ten, an ice maker fault that took some figuring out with the freezer put back together before anything defrosted, a dishwasher drain cleared the same day it was called in. Several 2009 customers listed what they paid, $100 to $150, and one called him less expensive than local repair shops. The complaints from the same months are the ones to weigh, because they share an ending. Five accounts from June and July 2009 describe a first visit that went fine and a second that never happened: a customer who said Norm collected $200 for a dishwasher part and went quiet through three phone calls; a $700 job where the second appointment was missed three times before the calls stopped being returned; a refrigerator seal and ice maker line left without the final fitting after three promises; a washer fixed for $85 that ran four loads before he stopped calling back. A 2009 caller on a $100 visit said he was quoted a price that assumed a replacement part, did not need the part, and was charged the same. Angi's listing also carries a "This pro is under review" banner. Everything written here is from 2009 and 2010, so treat it as history rather than a description of today's shop. If you call, the sensible protections are the ones those customers wish they had: get the diagnosis and the part price in writing, do not hand over a parts deposit you cannot recover, and hold final payment until the appliance has run a few cycles.
Fast, efficient and honest service
$700 at first seemed ok but on 2nd appointment never showed up 3 times and then wouldn't return phone calls. very frustrating to deal with.
I heard about Norm's appliance repair through your website. I contacted Norm re: dishwasher and ice maker which needed repair. He arrived the next day, fixed the dishwasher, ordered the part for the ice maker, and said he would be back in a few days. That was one month ago. Several calls later, only one of which resulted in a conversation and that was after service magic gave me a # I didn't have, I still don't have a working ice maker. I paid Norm for his visit which includes the return visit ----I only owe him for the part which we agreed would be paid when installed. I would not recommend using this contractor.
$100 good job once he got here...
He was quick to respond. He was very good at listening and outlined the cost for all possibilities so there was no surprise. He came through with a good diagnosis and fixed the problem. This to me separated him from the others.
