A new homeowner writing in April 2026 says they looked at six other painting companies and this one had by far the best rate, with the owner, Peter, accommodating them as they changed their mind about what they wanted done. Peter quotes the work himself, and the estimate is what several homeowners single out: a November 2025 reviewer said theirs came in on par and still covered the small bits, the porch and the front railing; a March 2026 customer got a detailed quote back quickly, along with the name of the person who would lead the crew. North Shore Painting Services works out of North Reading and says it serves the North Shore — Andover, Beverly, Ipswich, Gloucester, Rockport and the towns between — doing interior and exterior painting, remodeling, drywall and plaster repair, pressure washing and carpentry. The company says it has been at this 35 years, though its directory profiles put the figure anywhere from 16 to 41. Exteriors are where the work gets described in the most detail. A December 2025 reviewer laid out the sequence: the whole house power washed, damaged and rotted wood replaced and repaired, surfaces prepped, then a primer coat and a finish coat. The carpentry shows up in the older accounts too — a 2019 review of a three-story Victorian covers siding, trim and porch repair alongside the painting; a 2023 reviewer had the interior repainted while hardwood was refinished, deck stairs rebuilt and a new kitchen floor laid; a December 2024 review is an attic pull-down ladder, replaced in a day. Cleanup comes up more than once: the 2022 owner of a two-story colonial noted no paint chips on the ground and crews mindful of the shrubs. Thumbtack shows 4.9 from 118 ratings, and the other three platforms sit between 4.8 and 4.9. Three accounts pull the other way. A July 2024 Houzz reviewer gave one star and said the crew never finished the job. In June 2023, another Houzz customer had the roof and exterior painting done and the roof leaked afterward; they emailed, texted and called while they waited, and their update says the crew came through and the issue was resolved. In March 2020, an Angi reviewer stopped the crew from fitting new deck railings before the floor had been sanded, and wrote that had they not been home, it would have been done completely wrong. The company's site lists an unrestricted construction supervisors license and a home improvement contractors license, and Houzz lists CS-060149 — numbers to ask for when the contract comes. This is a sensible call for a full exterior repaint where the prep and the rotted-wood repair matter as much as the color; get any carpentry or roof work written into the same scope as the paint, ask who the lead on site will be, and agree on the order the work will happen in.
“Amazing service! From detailed proposal to providing accurate communication North Shore Paint”
Absolutely love these guys!! I'm a new home owner and painting was the first thing I wanted to get accomplished. I looked at 6 other companies and these guys by far had the best rate. Not only that but their owner Peter was fantastic as I changed my mind about what I wanted done and the timing about four times. He was so responsive and thorough with answering my questions. His crew were friendly and complete professionals. I went over their work with a very close eye and had no complaints. I urge anyone to use this company you will not regret it and I already have new jobs for his team in the works. For someone who is a new homeowner this type of support from a contractor is so appreciated!!!!
I highly recommend the North Shore painters. They painted 2 floors in our townhouse: walls, ceilings, doors, windows, trim, etc. The owner responded quickly with detailed quote. He also told me who the lead person on the job will be. The crew arrived on time and reviewed the work/colors/sheen with me. They meticulously protected the floors before they started painting. The work took a couple of days, as planed, and was completed on time. When they were done, they cleaned everything and waited for me to walk through the entire house to make sure that I was satisfied with their work. And very satisfied I was! I highly recommend North Shore and would definitely hire them again.
North Shore Painting Services did outstanding job painting my house. The crew power washed the entire house, replaced and repaired all damaged and rotted wood, prepped all surfaces, applied a primer coat and finish coat of paint, as well as repairing and painting the surface of the foundation. All this was done under challenging November weather conditions. Peter, the contractor, was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Highly recommend and will definitely use again!!
From the moment I got quote from Peter, I had a very positive vibe from him. He quote was not only on par but also included all small bits and pieces of the painting the house, like included the porch, front railing. His team was very punctual, came on time, worked all day and finished it quickly. The quality of job is amazing. I did not have to check on anything but still the work was perfect. I wish I can find more people like him for all other kinds of work. If anyone is looking for paint related work, look no further. Peter and his team are the best !
Peter and his crew did an incredible job painting my house. The team was extremely professional, very clean and the value was great. I'd highly recommend him to anyone.
