Across three dozen Google reviews stretching back to 2020, the same names keep showing up — Miguel, Dan, Amanda — and the same word: recommend. Northeast Basement Solutions is a Haverhill-based waterproofing and basement-finishing contractor that says it's been at it for 20 years, working across Massachusetts and into New Hampshire. The waterproofing side of the business gets specific praise. In a 2025 review, a homeowner described Miguel steering them away from an unnecessary upsell other companies had pitched and installing just the sump pump the job actually needed. Another described a sump-pump-and-backup system paired with a separate foundation-crack repair, photos attached. A 2025 review credits the team with a french drain and additional waterproofing that "completely transformed" a basement, and a 2023 review recounts them responding within days of a Christmas Eve flood to assess, quote, and fix the problem. The finishing side runs just as deep. A 2024 review describes turning a "dark and moldy" basement into a home gym — pulling out old drywall, doors, and ceiling tiles, correcting improperly wired electrical, and adding insulation along the way. A 2023 review details a 160-year-old house where the crew dug the floor down for ceiling height, poured a new concrete slab, and waterproofed the perimeter before finishing the space. A 2024 review describes a two-month buildout that added a bedroom, full bathroom, pantry, and entertainment space. Older Thumbtack reviews from 2020 and 2021 tell a consistent story on the carpentry side too — Dan framing, drywalling, and taping basements, with one customer saying he "saved me from a previous horrible experience." Google shows 32 ratings averaging 5 stars, and the Better Business Bureau gives the company an A- grade (it isn't BBB-accredited). Thumbtack lists the owner, Daniel Maillet, as background-checked with a self-reported OSHA 30 certification; its Houzz profile, by contrast, is currently suspended with no reviews posted there. Nothing in the record — six years of it, across three platforms — describes a job gone wrong. A solid call for basement waterproofing or a full basement finish-out, especially on an older or awkward foundation; with a team this consistently named in the reviews, it's worth asking directly for Miguel or Dan by name when you book.
They are professional and knowledgeable! Highly reccomend them for any basement systems!
We couldn't be happier with our experience with Northeast Basement Solutions! From start to finish, every aspect of the process exceeded our expectations. The crew was professional, courteous, and clearly took pride in their work. They installed a french drain system along with additional waterproofing measures, and the quality of the finished work speaks for itself as our basement has been completely transformed. What really stood out was how clean they left everything when the job was done. A major basement project is inherently messy, but you'd barely know they were there. The pricing was fair and transparent with no surprises, no upsells, just honest value for excellent work. And when we had follow-up questions after the job was complete, their customer service was just as attentive as it was on day one. We've already hired them again for additional work, which says everything. If you're on the fence about who to trust with your basement, look no further. Northeast Basement Solutions has earned a customer for life.
We’ve had a few different companies work on our home over the years, and Northeast Basement has been by far the best. Their entire team was responsive, helpful, and always willing to answer any questions we had during the remodel. Dan, in particular, was proactive in making sure everything went smoothly—he consistently checked in and kept us updated on the progress of the project. We couldn’t be happier with the results and would gladly recommend them to anyone considering a basement remodel.
Highly recommend Northeast Basement Solutions. Miguel, Amanda and their team are excellent. Great communication, service, and high quality work. They take pride in their work and it shows. We would defiantly work with them again.
Miguel and his team did a great job from start to finish. Unlike the other basement waterproofing companies that wanted to charge exorbitant amounts for unnecessary work Miguel knew from his 24 years of experience all I needed was a sump pump and charged a much more reasonable price for a great pump. I look forward to having them back to quote out finishing the rest of the basement in the future. Thank you for your honest work.
