Northeast Oil & Propane delivers propane and heating oil; its website advertises both oil and propane for the home and says the company has been in business 50 years. A 2025 r/Connecticut commenter pointed people to Northeast Oil & Propane in Danielson and said its rates were really good. Trade press has described it as one of the brand names of a group run from three office locations and two bulk storage facilities. On Google it holds 3.4 stars from 132 ratings, and its BBB grade is A+. A 2026 customer said they had not checked their oil level before a snowstorm and called after business hours; Scott coordinated a same-night delivery and Rob came over and filled them up. A 2025 customer said that in an emergency the company was out within the hour and filled them up. A 2023 customer said their tank regulator vent froze on a frigid winter day, and the company came out the same day and replaced the tank top regulator in maybe 15 minutes. A 2025 customer thanked Dave and Neil for a service call in Ashford, where they ran a gas line so it would look aesthetically pleasing and set up an appointment to have a furnace serviced. A 2024 customer said a technician named Logan Sharkey cleaned their Mitsubishi AC. A recent one-star reviewer, a customer for 13 years, says no one calls back and the company is no longer locally owned. A 2025 customer of 17 years said that for nearly a week no one answered the phone or returned messages while they were running low on fuel. A recent customer who switched to Suburban Propane says their tank ran completely out many times on automatic refills over five years, and that three different people looked at the furnace without finding a faulty thermostat. A 2026 customer said a propane delivery promised by the end of the week arrived the following Wednesday, at a price higher than the one quoted.

I want to say I have been using this company for years and would not change. Great Service great people. Shout out to Terry the voice on the phone! Love her π She made my day with her kindness and help. Thank you
Northeast Oil & Propane delivers exceptional service. Very responsive and professional. Highly recommend.
Once a reputable locally owned company. Now a disorganized, dishonest mess that is not locally owned. No one calls you back, when you do get someone on the phone they can't answer your questions nor do they care to. Was a customer for 13 years and glad to say no more. 0/5 stars.
If I could leave negative stars I would - at this point the company doesn't even rate the one star the system made me click. My house originally had 2 propane tanks (foundation for both was still there when I moved in) but for some reason there was only one tank there. For 5 years every driver that delivered and every office person I talked to said I should have a 2nd tank. My response every time was "sure - schedule me for an installation". Never happened. (And that would have been for me to rent the tank) I realize they use a formula to determine when to refill auto refill customers. But in 5 years I lost count how many times my tank ran completely out and I had to call for an emergency refill. And then got questioned: "are you sure it's empty?" And threatened: "if it's not really empty we're going to have to charge you extra" Horrible. Office personnel were (mostly) nice. But when I call to correct your company's mistake, it's poor customer service to threaten me with non-delivery if the driver doesn't have a "cleared path to get to the tank". I was a Firefighter/EMT for over 20 years - nobody ever cleared a path for us to get to the house to render aid to a patient or to put out a fire. Do your job. Their "technicians" are a joke. 3 different people looked at my furnace & couldn't figure out that the problem was a faulty thermostat. After I replaced pretty much every part on the furnace (including a $150 circuit board they told me was bad & wanted to charge over $350 to replace) & still had the same problem, I replaced the thermostat as a last resort. Haven't had a single problem since then. And now I'm waiting 6-8 weeks to get reimbursed for the propane I paid for that was in the tank they picked up after I finally had enough & switched to Suburban Propane. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that I'm going to have to chase them down for that too...
Note that my five star rating pertains only to the good customer service provided by Sarah this morning. Last time I ordered propane I was told the minimum was 125 gallons. Today I find out differently, i.e., propane is, was and has never changed from the 100 gallon miminum. I actually put off ordering more propane thinking I'd be writing a bigger check and in this day/age we're all counting pennies. Customer service overall anywhere lately has been sketchy at best so when I'm lucky enough to deal with a good customer rep, I can't but "sing their praises". Thank you Sarah!
