An earlier 2024 recorder.com article reported that the sole bid filed by the deadline came from Palmer-based Northern Construction Service LLC, and a 2024 franklincountynow.com article reported that the Shelburne Falls Fire District awarded the bid to the company. In a 2025 franklincountynow.com article, Dobosz said of Northern Construction, "Rain, snow, sleet — they did not quit and diligently worked to stay on schedule." A 2026 wilmingtonapple.com article reported that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation – Highway Division awarded a contract to Northern Construction Service LLC. A 2026 recorder.com article reported that MassDOT contracted the company for a project with an approximately $24 million budget. A 2014 businesswest.com article described the Palmer-based company taking on a job in Southington, Conn., lifting existing bridges off their supports. The company's website lists project locations including Boston, Providence, New Haven and Philadelphia, and says it has been in business 30 years. A 2024 plymouthindependent.org article reported that Northern Construction told town officials a delay and additional groundwater management measures would cost an extra $4.5 million, doubling the project cost to $9 million.
