Seven very large white pines behind a Pittsfield house were the job described in a November 2024 Google review of Northern Oak Tree Service. The customer said the crew used a crane to hoist large chunks over the house with no problems, and that the work went smoothly. They also described the price tag as large. Northern Oak calls itself Northern Oak Tree & Home Services on its website and says it works in the Berkshire County area, naming Barrington and North Adams in its service area. The company advertises free estimates and 24/7 emergency service. A September 2025 Google review described a different removal: a rotting, 20-foot-tall stump that had stood in the customer's yard for several years. The reviewer said the crew cut it down and hauled it away within an hour of arriving, then ground the stump into the earth until no sign of the tree remained. An update to that review said the customer had called the company back for stump grinding a couple of months earlier and again gave it five stars, thanking John and the crew. In an August 2025 review, another customer described a tree removed from the front of their home and praised the crew's professionalism and efficiency. A February 2025 reviewer named Tom, John, and Anthony, praising their communication and saying they felt valued and respected. A customer writing in March 2024 described several large trees removed from their property. They said the crew arrived on time, planned the removal to minimize disruption, finished ahead of schedule, and cleaned the yard thoroughly afterward. Northern Oak's Google rating is 5 stars from six ratings.
“Berkshire Reign would like to thank John Felix of Northern Oak Tree Service for sponsoring uniforms for the team.”
Fantastic work! They took down a 20ft tall stump that was rotting away in my yard for the past several years. It was a massive tree in it's time and this crew cut it down and hauled it off within an hour of getting to my house. They ground the stump down to nothing into the earth and there's absolutely no evidence there was ever even a tree there. Respectable crew that I would 100% recommend. **UPDATE** I called them back for stump grinding a couple months ago. Just wanted to add that to this older review I left. 5-stars once again. Thanks, John and Crew!

These guys are BADASS. Very professional, and good folks. They took down seven VERY LARGE white pines behind my house in Pittsfield MA. The price tag is large but the work went smoothly. They brought in a crane and hoisted HUGE chunks over my house with no problems. Highly recommended, for projects large or small.
