A recent customer had a kitchen and bathroom done by Scribner's Kitchen and Bath Designs and said the company is on the pricier side, but that the quality of the work outweighed the price. The company says it has been in business for 58 years. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0500596, is active on the state registry. It holds 4.8 stars from 16 Google ratings. A 2025 customer said Scribner's replaced an old fiberglass tub with a custom Syn-mar shower, and that the carpenter, Will, cut the walls so that no quarter-round trim was needed, just a line of clear caulk. That 2025 customer said Scribner's scheduled the building inspectors and the whole job was done in 6 working days. A 2025 customer said that almost three years after a bath remodel, Jim and his electrician came out about blinking bathroom lights; the problem turned out to have nothing to do with the bath work, and they were not charged. A 2024 customer said Scribner's renovated a kitchen and bathroom in their condo, the second house it had renovated for them, with a third under contract. A 2024 customer said a master bathroom remodel gutted a tiny old bathroom and an adjoining walk-in closet to make one large bathroom. A 2024 customer said a preconstruction meeting with Jim and Cindy covered design meetings, permits, trades and trash removal, and that the new kitchen came in on time and on budget. A 2025 customer described a kitchen project with owner Jim Moran that went badly: the island was installed 8 inches off-plan and 6 inches shorter than the design, a job estimated at 4 to 6 weeks ran over 10 weeks, and the team left without a final walk-through, leaving a dishwasher with standing water and tile unfinished. That 2025 customer said Jim Moran threatened legal action when the customer's wife asked how to resolve the issues, and wrote that ultimately it is a nice kitchen.
We recently had our kitchen and bathroom done by the amazing crew from Scribner’s and we couldn’t be happier. They are the epitome of the phrase “you get what you pay for”. Are they on the pricier side? Yes, but the quality of their work and their willingness to go above and beyond well overshadows the price that we paid. Every facet of their employees, and their respective trades, is professional, respectful, and top notch. When we did our extensive research looking for a reliable contractor we weren’t really sure what to expect and we were amazed by their extensive knowledge and experience of color coordination, what materials blended well with others, and intricate designs that made everything work together with superior symmetry. The fact that they’re in such high demand is further proof that customers know that they’re getting one of the best groups of people to ever come together to make the project seamless and efficient. We highly recommend them and encourage others to do their own research and we’re sure that they’ll come to the same conclusion. Before and after pics show it all. 😁
We are extremely happy with our shower remodel. Jim was wonderful with the design that worked for us. Cindy helped us pick out the perfect color schemes. Will was professional, clean, and oh so skilled in the demolition and installation. We were very happy to use Scribners again.
We are very pleased with the design, demo, installation, materials, and the quality, professional work Scribner’s provided for our renovated bathroom. The team was reliable, thorough, and maintained a clean work environment. We would definitely refer Scribner’s to our friends and use them for another project.
Scribner's went above and beyond in resolving a problem with blinking lights in our bathroom. This was almost three years after the bath had been remodeled. After our electrician was out, Jim and his electrician came out in an attempt to eliminate the issue. They gave us a new bidet to try to make the blinking go away. The problem turned out to be nothing about our bath repair, but we were not charged a penny. The new bidet stayed. Jim's said his job was to make us happy. We were thrilled!
I recently had my kitchen renovated by Scribner's, and I continue to be in awe with how it all turned out. Jim, Cindy, Alan, and team are masters of their respective craft. All the materials ordered and installed were of high quality, the workmanship was stellar, and the overall renovation process was quite smooth and stress-free. Cindy has such an eye for details and design in particular, and I appreciated her patience and attentiveness in guiding me through how everything would tie together. Thank you, Scribner's!
