O'Connell Oil Associates delivers heating oil and services heating equipment in Western Massachusetts, and a 2024 customer said the company helped them out in an emergency, naming Benny as knowledgeable about servicing their equipment. A 2016 berkshireeagle.com article described the company as founded in 1925 and based in Pittsfield, with offices in North Adams and Northampton. Its website says it has been in business 101 years and offers 24/7 emergency service. A 2024 customer in a hill town wrote that they had been customers for over a decade, got service on time, and were rescued in urgent situations several times. In a 2020 review, a customer who had converted from oil to gas said O'Connell's tech and manager came to the home when the heat would not come on, and took care of it; that 2020 customer said another company had failed to bleed the system. Plumbing is part of the business too. A Northampton Nextdoor commenter thought they had read that O'Connell closed its plumbing outfit. An Easthampton Nextdoor commenter wrote that O'Connell had been out two days earlier and that the plumbing department is not closed. A 2024 customer new to the area said they could not get service during a heating emergency because they were not an existing customer. A 2026 reviewer said one of the company's drivers backed into the front end of their car, leaving a deep scratch on the bumper, and yelled at them while delivering oil. A Northampton Nextdoor commenter wrote that they had been waiting weeks for O'Connell and had not heard back. On its BBB page, a reviewer wrote of rude behavior when calling the company.
“bottomlineoil.com) is just O'Connell Oil. Same truck, same route, they just sell it a bit cheaper than their normal rate.”
“Oil burns dirtier and you will need to set up an oil delivery with a local company (O'Connell, etc.), they will also do any service if a problem crops up.”
“I just had O’Connells out here two days ago. Plumbing department is not closed.”
“I think I read that O’Connell had closed its plumbing outfit.”
“Been waiting for O’Connell for weeks and they haven’t gotten back to me.”
“Founded in 1925 and based in Pittsfield, O'Connell Oil Associates also has offices in North Adams and Northampton. It operates 29 Convenience Plus stores, seven gas stations, a wholesale gasoline business, and full-service commercial and residential plumbing, heating and air conditioning departments, according to the company's website.”
“Lehigh Gas of Bethlehem, Pa., had been looking to buy O'Connell's 30 convenience stores and gas stations and its home heating oil distribution and service operation, which operates throughout Western Massachusetts from its home base in Pittsfield.”
I wish I could say something nice but one of their drivers backed into the front end of my car and then yelled at me for it. Proceeded to pull into the residential address and deliver oil while yelling at me that I drove into the back of his truck. I hope you guys get some drivers that are more aware of their surroundings because if I hadn't slammed on my brakes he could've done much worse than put a deep scratch on my front bumper.
New home owner in the area for less than two weeks, now we have a heating emergency and can't get service because we aren't an existing customer, (despite the previous owner being a client for years) While I understand this is "standard" it certainly doesn't help keep my children from freezing just after Christmas. New customers we will not become.
They helped me out in my emergency. Very honest I definitely recommend them. Thank you for having a heart. It's appreciated beyond words. I appreciate Benny being knowledgeable about servicing my equipment. May this company continue to flourish. Stay blessed!
Amazing customer service. We have been their customers for over the decade already and we are located in a tiny hill town in the middle of nowhere but we always gey service on time and were rescued by their professionals in the urge t situation several times. Thank you guys for alwaus being close in any situation!
O'Connell Oil is fantastic! I had converted from oil to gas and didn't know they service gas as well. Unfortunately, I reached out to a local company, Fontaine Heating and they completed a service, but failed to bleed the system, so my heat wouldn't come on. When I called Fontaine they wanted to charge me again ($100) and refused to even look at it to see if there was a simple solution. Well, I ended up calling O'Connell and the tech and manager came to my home and took care of it for me - it was caused by Fontiaine not bleeding the system (simple)! I want to thank the team at O'Connell for just being decent and caring for your customer...I will never go anywhere else!
