John LaBossiere's inspection explanations feature in several dated customer accounts. An April 2024 Google reviewer, a first-time buyer, described patient explanations that were easy to understand. Another April 2024 reviewer, accompanying first-time buyers, said John explained his process room by room, answered their questions and helped them understand repairs that needed to be made. Ocean State Home Inspections describes itself as a Rhode Island-based, owner-operated company serving Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts. The company says John founded it in 1998 and has conducted more than 10,000 residential inspections. It claims ASHI certification and names a service area including Narragansett, Westerly, Newport, Providence, Warwick, Cranston, Pawtucket and Bristol. A January 2021 Angi customer said John distinguished minor repairs to watch from those needing more immediate attention, helping them figure out which repairs to negotiate with the sellers. In December 2025, a Google customer described a complete crawl-space report for a building they were trying to buy; they said John responded quickly and helped them understand the property. Another December 2025 reviewer said he arrived on time and conducted a thorough inspection of a townhouse they were interested in buying. Written reports also drew praise in older accounts. A June 2023 Angi reviewer described a thorough inspection and a 43-page report. A September 2023 Google customer said John took his time and included many photographs in the report. In January 2022, a customer described an exterior inspection in cold, rainy weather, detailed explanations and a detailed report, with John answering follow-up questions. The same customer said they did not feel pressured to add inspection services. Two older reviews raised cost concerns while praising the inspections. An April 2023 Google customer said Dan arrived on time and was thorough, but objected to an extra $25 charge for next-day service. A January 2021 HomeAdvisor customer described easy scheduling and an on-time appointment, while wishing for a discount on what they considered a straightforward inspection. Google reports five stars from 41 ratings; Angi and HomeAdvisor each report 4.9 stars from 27 ratings. The Massachusetts home inspector licence 363-HI-1 under John A Labossiere is expired.
