A barn with a rotted sill plate and failed joists was back in one piece inside a single day in July 2026 — and at the best price of every contractor that owner called. On The Mend Home Renovations works that end of the trade and the other end too: the Merrimack company describes itself as a family-owned design-build remodeler serving southern New Hampshire and the Lakes Region since 2004, and its reviews run from small structural repairs up to whole-house projects. Donnie is the name in more than a dozen of those reviews, usually alongside a crew member — Aaron as project manager on a March 2025 bathroom, Shaun on a May 2025 roof replacement, Dan making the moldings for two basement windows that same month. Across 49 Google ratings the average is 4.8, with 4.9 from 42 ratings on Thumbtack. The bigger jobs are where the detail sits. An April 2025 homeowner had a four-car garage addition built at their house. A May 2025 customer, writing about 85% of the way through, had a two-car garage with a primary bedroom above it, a replacement deck and a guest bathroom all going at once. A May 2025 fixer-upper took in a full kitchen and master bath along with an exterior wall found rotted through. In March 2025, an unfinished basement became a handicap-accessible space for a reviewer's mother, with a bedroom, living area and bathroom. One recent account runs the other way, and it matters. In June 2026, a customer wrote that the company took a $2,500 deposit and then said it could not accommodate the job; they were told at least $500 would come back, and it did not. Alongside that: New Hampshire does not register general contractors, and this company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #200184, is expired. Closer to home, the Union Leader reported in April 2026 that On The Mend would cover the cost of a new press box for the football field at Veterans Memorial Park, materials and labor valued at $50,000. For a kitchen, a bath, a basement conversion or an addition that needs one outfit steering several trades, the written history here is deep and specific — a Realtor said in March 2025 that the company had worked for several of their clients as well as on their own project. Settle the money terms in writing first: what the deposit covers, when it is due, and exactly what comes back if the job cannot be scheduled.
“On the Mend Home Renovations, a local contractor, will cover the costs of building a new press box for Veterans Memorial Park’s football field, with materials and labor valued at $50,000.”
Had a barn with a rotted sill plate and failed joists, On The Mend had the best price of all contractors I called and was able to come and fix it in a single day. Highly recommend
Very simply the best contractor I could have hired to make the repairs needed to the house! Professional and caring throughout the repairs. Damage to the house because of a ice dam on the roof. Damage occurred in the bedroom where the wallboard started peeling away. Further damage in the house identified repairs that needed attention and repair. I hired On The Mend Home Renovations (OTMR) after a few weeks of dealing with this situation. OTMR came out; assessed the damage; advised what they could do; and then arranged for the work to be done. This whole ordeal was made so much easier and less stressful thanks to the OTMR team. Repairs were not only completed on time, but the cleanup of the area after they were done was great. If I ever have a situation like this again, I know exactly who I am going to call to get the work done because I know it will get done to a high standard.
Promised a lot within first few meetings. Took our 2,500 deposit and suddenly, they could not accommodate. Told us they would give us at least 500.00 back but did not. I would not use this company. False promises.
On The Mend did an absolutely incredible job on our home! They repaired our front stairs, siding, windows, and shed — and the transformation is unbelievable. Everything looks brand new, and the craftsmanship is outstanding. Their communication throughout the entire process was excellent. They were responsive, clear, and always kept us in the loop. It’s obvious they take pride in their work, and we appreciate their attention to detail and dedication so much. We’re truly grateful for their hard work and couldn’t be happier with the results. Highly recommend On The Mend for anyone looking for quality, reliability, and a team that genuinely cares about their craft!
