Two different companies seem to live inside this one. Hire Ortiz Rodas to build something — a walkway, a patio, a retaining wall, a brick driveway — and the reviews are consistently pleased, several from customers who came back for a second and third project. Put them on a weekly maintenance round and a different set of accounts appears: torn-up lawns, damaged plantings, and crews still turning up after being told to stop. The business runs from 15 Floral St in Lawrence under Nicodemo Ortiz, who reviewers call Nico. BBB records the corporation as started and incorporated in August 2020, which is five years, and lists a single employee — while the company's own site says it has served Lawrence for more than twelve years. Its BBB page shows an A+ letter grade, though BBB states plainly that customer reviews are not part of that calculation, and the business is not accredited. Across 25 Google ratings the average sits at 4.0, and the 24 written reviews since 2022 split the way you would expect from that number: a clear majority praising hardscape construction, seasonal cleanups and pricing, and five one-star accounts. Those negatives are not vague. They describe damage during maintenance visits, a botched dethatching that broke a sprinkler system, service continuing after a customer asked twice for it to stop, and a phone call in which the owner is reported to have threatened to dump material on a customer's yard. One reviewer also complains about leaf blowers running outside permitted hours. The most recent complaint, from April, is about the front end rather than the work: a caller was told to text their address for an estimate, got no visit and no call back over a weekend, and when they raised it was told to go find a more professional company. The newest review, from July, is a short note praising a yard cleanup. So be specific about which side of this business you are hiring. For a built project — patio, walkway, stairs, wall, driveway — the record is genuinely good; get the scope, materials and price in writing and it lines up with what past customers describe. For recurring lawn maintenance, ask directly who supervises the crew, how they handle beds, fabric and irrigation heads, and what happens when you ask them to stop. Also worth asking about the twelve-year claim, since the company was incorporated in 2020.

Unprofessional. I called on a Friday and was told to txt me address for them to come by and give me an estimate. Saturday I called and got no response and no call back. I called back on Sunday and confirmed is this was a company as it seemed a bit off. The man on the phone said “I forgot to pass by” at that point I expressed concerns regarding professionalism. He responded “if you don’t like that I forgot then go get a more professional company” call ended. If I’m going to spend 10s of thousands of dollars in a project, I expect common decency.

I've been using Ortiz Rodas for a year now for regular landscaping services, including weekly mow & blow, spring & fall cleanups, and occasional vine and brush clean-outs, and I'm very happy with their work. Their team is prompt, friendly, polite, and professional, and the quality of work is excellent. Highly recommend.

Best landscaping service we ever used. Nico and his team also did some projects around the property, no job is too small or too big for him. I very much recommend his services.
