Our House Design & Construction pairs design with the build: a designer lays out the room, and the company carries the renovation through. On its Houzz profile, the company says it is family-owned and run by Rachel and Drew Stietzel, with Rachel as designer and project manager. A recent Google customer said the company remodeled their kitchen, dining room and hallway on time and within budget, with Ben as the main consultant who kept the crews on schedule. A 2026 customer said they worked with Rachel and Drew on an entire first-floor renovation, that the crew cleaned up the site daily, and that they had hired the company again for a primary bathroom renovation. A 2019 Houzz customer said a once tiny master bath was turned into a space that feels spacious, with a barn door and a long granite counter with a floating sink. A 2017 customer said the company installed fixtures in a bathroom and bedroom renovation and delivered the project on time and under budget. A 2017 customer described a full kitchen renovation in a 1920s colonial revival home, with clear drawings, transparent costs and a quick permit process; that customer also said they were not actively notified when the schedule shifted. A 2023 Google customer said the company designed their kitchen and provided 3D renderings. A 2017 customer said three large windows were replaced along with wood damage around the garage doors and front entryway, using composite wood. A 2026 customer said they called twice about a kitchen and family room project and never got a call from a designer. A 2026 customer said their husband was spoken down to and interrupted when he spoke with the company. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0576078, as active, held by Our House LLC.
Our House Design and Construction remodeled our kitchen, dining room and hallway. From the initial introductory meeting to completion, their team went above and beyond to make sure we wanted was done correctly, on time and within budget. Ben, who was our main consultant and point person, was always available and helpful with great ideas, problem solving and keeping the crews on schedule. We highly recommend them and will use them again in the future.
Working with Rachel and Drew from Our House was the best decision we made for our entire first floor renovation! My husband and I couldn't imagine working with a more creative and professional team. From our initial meeting with Rachel to design the space and select materials to the final phase, Rachel and Drew and their entire team exhibited the utmost rectitude. They handled unexpected issues with creative solutions as if they were part of the original plan and kept us informed every step of the way. Going through such a big renovation can be daunting and could require lots of patience however, we never felt stressed or disappointed working with this incredible team. The craftsmanship is truly remarkable, the crew was respectful and cleaned up the site daily. Our renovation is everything we hoped it would be and then some. Every person who walks through our doors compliment our new space. The common accolade, "It's magazine worthy". We couldn't agree more! It truly was an absolute pleasure working with Rachel and Drew. In fact, we loved them so much we're currently working with them again on our Primary Bathroom renovation. We eagerly encourage and recommend Rachel and Drew and their team. You won't be disappointed.
I would not normally post a negative review, but don't bother contacting this business if you don't have alot of money to spend or they "think" you don't have money to spend. I needed to have input on bringing two awkward spaces together. I have placed 2 calls to Our House. First time I was told the owners were on vacation and they would return my call when they came back. A few weeks went by and no call. So I call again and get a very "harried" sounding woman on the phone. I stated I had called weeks ago and she said she would have one of the designers call me. Well, here we are weeks later and still no phone call. The only reason I can think of is that they felt the job might be too small. No one asked what rooms I was trying to bring together which was a kitchen and family room, plus possible construction of a sunroom. I believe they thought it was too small a job to even give a call back. However, it involved a total kitchen renovation with all the bells and whistles. I had a 100k+ budget. I'm sure the clients who have had work done by them are pleased, but I will not be one them. Even if you think a customer is small potatoes, they are still potatoes and deserve at least a call back. **Response to Owners Reply** While I appreciate your response, you do realize its been over a year since I wrote that review and you are now just replying?? No matter how you look at it, waiting a year to reply to someone who was not happy about never getting a response in the first place is still bad form. Just saying.
I’m honestly disappointed by this response because it dismisses a very real and unpleasant experience we had. Just because a company claims they have “no record” of communicating with us does not mean the interaction didn’t occur, or that the behavior we experienced wasn’t real. My husband spoke directly with this company, and the way he was treated was shockingly rude and unprofessional. He was spoken down to, interrupted, and met with an aggressive tone that was completely unnecessary. At no point was there an attempt to be helpful, respectful, or solution oriented. Instead, the conversation felt dismissive and hostile, which left us both uncomfortable and frustrated. If this is truly not reflective of your “business practices,” then that is even more concerning because it suggests a serious lack of internal accountability or awareness of how your staff communicates with potential customers. Professionalism isn’t just about records and policies; it’s about how people are treated in real interactions. We are not leaving this feedback lightly or without cause. We are sharing it to be honest about our experience and to warn others. A company that is quick to deny and deflect rather than acknowledge the possibility of poor behavior does not inspire confidence. Based on how my husband was spoken to, this is not a company we would ever choose to work with or recommend.
Designed kitchen and provided 3D renderings. Went back to select cabinets, hardware and counters/ backslash. They are now working up costs. Bill is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant. I highly recommend this business. Also, they have many selections for the above products.
