Paul The Plumber runs out of Derry and covers far more than plumbing: heating and cooling, electrical work, generators, water treatment and drain service, sold both per-job and on a monthly membership. Its New Hampshire plumbing licence, number MBE1400820, is verified active in the state registry, the Better Business Bureau accredits it at A+, and its Google profile carries 4.7 stars from 3,486 ratings. Speed is the thing customers mention first. A July 2026 customer with a water tank pouring from the bottom had a technician out quickly and the tank replaced with new fixtures. An August 2026 customer who called about a failed air conditioner was seen the next day; another needed a new washer hooked up the same day and had corroded supply lines replaced on the spot. In a December 2024 review, a non-customer whose furnace flamed out on Christmas Eve got two technicians who had it running that day. Bigger jobs read well too. In a November 2025 review, a customer described a full heating and hot water replacement in a 175-year-old Sandown house run by a crew chief; in a 2023 review, another had a boiler swapped, heating zones consolidated and a smart thermostat added over three days, with space heaters and a temporary water heater supplied while the work ran. Technicians are named constantly — a sign customers deal with the same people twice. Price is the recurring complaint, and it is specific. A February 2024 reviewer said they were quoted $420 to replace a toilet flapper they then bought for $5. A November 2024 reviewer reported an $800 quote to clear a shower drain that came free with a hand, and $1,500 for a mixing valve. A February 2025 reviewer itemised a $4,361 bill: $575 in parts and five hours on site. In May 2025 a customer quoted $4,100 for a holding-tank pump had it replaced elsewhere for $890. Other customers describe the same pricing as fair or reasonable, so the disagreement is real and worth pinning down in advance. Two other things come up. Follow-through on quotes: a Reddit commenter in May 2026 said the company came out to quote a hood vent and never returned calls, and a Google reviewer said a water treatment inquiry went unanswered. Diagnosis on leak calls: in a January 2026 review a customer said technicians cut a 12-by-18-inch hole in a kitchen ceiling, confirmed water was coming from the bathroom above, and left with water still dripping into a bowl. For an urgent failure — no heat, no hot water, a live leak — this is a large outfit that answers the phone and shows up. Get the flat-rate quote in writing before work starts, ask what the diagnostic visit costs and whether it applies to the repair, and price a second opinion on anything that isn't an emergency.
“Paul the plumber quoted an indirect hot water heater install Higher then Heritage when I recently got quotes”
“I had one of the most unprofessional and just plain bad workmanship experiences with Paul the Plumber.”
“DO NOT go with Paul the Plumber. They came out to quote a hood vent for me the ghosted and never returned any of my calls.”
“The work we've had done (new furnace, new water heater, central air install, and various minor plumbing jobs) have all been with Paul the Plumber.”
“Paul the Plumber, Heritage, Daigle and Wetherbee have all been great over the years.”
Paul the Plumber was a reliable service for years but unfortunately they're falling into the trap of poor quality, half baked jobs with argumentative staff, and hiding behind "no reply" email addresses that kill any attempt at an easy dialogue. We'll be moving on now after they promised a fix for a bad job, overpriced and poor quality, and then sent a "no reply" email to us as their way to fix it.
Highly recommended. The technicians did the job quickly (they drained and changed the filter on our water filtration system) and were very informative, explaining what they were doing. The prices are fair, and Paul the Plumber is great about responding to your needs as quickly as they can.
Today, Paul the Plumber send a friendly man named Matt to help us with a ceiling fan issue we had. I can't explain how pleased we were with the service we received from Matt, he went above and beyond explaining things to us and at times, we all had a good laugh or two. We would definitely use this company again if needed! Thank you Matt!
My wife and I are extremely satisfied with the work Alex and Josh just completed. Great experience and very personable and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!! Thank you guys .
