Three days. That is how long it took PCA to prep 1,200 square feet of patio with rebar, pour and stamp it, then come back to cut the relief lines and stain the edge — the homeowner who timed it, writing in July 2026, called the team efficient as well as proficient in their craft. That rhythm is the through-line: PCA Outdoor Living, registered with Massachusetts as PCA Concrete and Construction Inc. and working out of Groton, is a stamped-concrete and pool-deck outfit, and the finished slab is what people write about. The written history runs deep — 82 reviews between 2021 and 2026 across five sites, 4.7 stars from 84 Google ratings, 4.8 from 73 on Thumbtack, and an A+ on its BBB page. Pool decks dominate. Reviewers in 2024 and 2025 described a badly faded stamped deck brought back, a demo-and-replace deck paired with new brick back steps, and a yard leveled and hydro-seeded before a 500-square-foot patio went in. A 2022 customer had 2,500 square feet of asphalt driveway replaced with concrete and reported no cracking since. Another, writing in 2022, had PCA carry coping, patio, drainage, fencing, grading and hydro-seeding across one backyard. The friction is not the concrete — it is the communication on either side of it. Two of the four reviews posted in the last six months are one star, and both tell the same story: a site visit, a promised quote, then nothing. One homeowner chased for weeks, was told the person who writes quotes was on vacation, and gave up months later. Another sent the photos PCA asked for of a settling paver pool deck and never heard back. A Thumbtack reviewer in September 2025 described standing in the rain while the job was measured, then silence. The heavier complaints are about what happens after the pour. In September 2025 a customer said $15,000 of work — both stair pads and the pool pad — was failing within a year, with major cracking, and that the signed two-year warranty went unhonored. A 2022 customer's follow-up says a pad kept crumbling through annual resealing that cost $400 to $700 in 2023 and 2024 before calls stopped being returned. A 2023 reviewer said messages went unanswered over finish concerns, pool equipment was damaged during the work, and the gravel base written into the contract was never delivered. Even a positive July 2026 review split the score: outcome 5/5, communication 3/5, with the homeowner initiating every update on the start date. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. If you want a stamped pool deck or patio and can get PCA as far as a signed contract, the finished work is the part reviewers reliably praise. Pin down a written schedule with named check-in dates, get the base material spelled out on paper, and ask plainly how warranty callbacks are handled — that is where the unhappy customers ended up.
I will start with what I think is most important for any construction job. Outcome: 5/5 stars Overall I’m very happy with how our patio came out. I attached photos so you can see. Communication : 3/5 stars I was told our project would start the third or fourth week of June. I assumed that due to Mother Nature and other projects we would be delayed. What I did not expect was me having to reach out to see if they were coming. They were not very proactive with communicating when things were delayed. If you called the main number eventually I would get a response and new start date. When my project was actually starting Pedro reached out to me on timing and followed through. Pedro was very good at responding when they were working on my specific project. Service: 5/5 stars The day my project was “finished” there was unexpected heavy rain washing away the outer edge of the new patio polymeric sand. I reached out to Pedro with both questions and requesting his team to come back to fix the edges. He answered all my questions and got a team out there to fix my patio within 48 hours. Timing: 5/5 stars The project took about two days to complete which was a lot quicker than I expected. I was here the day of main construction and they did all the steps they said they were going to do to build a good patio base. Things to note if you choose PCA: Pricing I believe was fair to the market and was reasonable. We got about 5 quotes from various construction and landscaping teams. PCA just does the construction, so if you are looking for everything including landscaping to be done as well you will need to go with a different company and expect to pay more to finish the area around your patio. We opted to landscape ourselves.
PCA came in and prepped the entire 1200 sq ft stamped concrete job with rebar in one day. The second day they came to my home the concrete was poured and stamped. The team came a third day and cut all the relief cuts and did the randomized cuts with a chop saw to resemble slate. This third day they also stained the edge a darker color , cleaned up and were done. The team was efficient as well as proficient In their craft. My 1200 sq foot stamped concrete patio is exactly what we wanted. PCA comes highly recommended by us and we couldn’t be happier with their results.
Asked for a quote for a driveway and concrete patio. Met with the owner. Was told about 48 hours. Reached out multiple times over the following weeks and was given an excuse each time by the owner. For example, I was told the person that does the quotes was on vacation and would be back in a few days. Weeks turned into months. Never received a quote or explanation. Not sure what the issue was. Owner seemed nice enough in person and company has a great google score. Gave up and purchased a chainlink fence instead from someone else. Thanks for nothing.
Reached out to PCA to get a quote on a refresh/rehab of a permeable paver deck surrounding our pool due to settling. Had multiple text messages back and forth with PCA, and requested pictures and sent. Haven’t heard a thing back despite texting. Not a good business practice to have as a company. Wouldn’t use or recommend as possible contractor for this behavior.
Pedro and his team recently completed our pool, deck area, and walkway to the backyard. His professionalism was top notch as he was extremely responsive, followed through on his commitments, and help navigate choices for tile, pavers, and interior of the pool. I made a few modifications and he was able to accommodate and use his own best judgement to create a beautiful pool area. He sought to get the best prices as we slightly expanded the project. His team was extremely hard-working and professional as well. His pricing was inline with the market which was much more than I wanted to spend but was fair. I would recommend him to others and would look forward to working with him again if I had additional work that I wanted to complete.
