A homeowner came to Peter Buzzelle holding quotes from other contractors saying her windows needed extensive repair. He looked at them, made a few simple fixes, told her the rest was unnecessary, and did not charge. She wrote that up in August 2024, and it is the most telling thing anyone has written about him. Buzzelle runs a carpentry and general-contracting shop out of Jamaica Plain. Its Houzz profile says the company has worked the Boston area since 2010 and focuses on the awkward realities of renovating older homes. Building-permit history backs the volume up: BuildZoom counts 36 permitted projects for the company. The six reviews on file all give five stars, and what makes them worth reading is that several come from repeat clients. In May 2025 a homeowner described years of work across their house and some rental units, picking out two details — a mahogany beadboard porch ceiling Peter suggested in place of the plastered one they had planned, and deck stairs and handrails they described as rock-solid. A May 2024 client said the standout was a two-bathroom remodel, held to budget and quote, after which they kept calling him back for smaller repairs and a whole-house window replacement. In February 2025 another wrote that when something was not quite right, the crew came back and put it right. Two things to weigh before you call. All six of those accounts sit on Houzz and nowhere else, and the newest is from May 2025, so there is nothing written about the past year. The Houzz page itself is currently flagged "Business Profile Suspended" pending the owner reactivating it, which means the listing is not being maintained. On licensing, BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration, #163448, and says it verified that as active in March 2026. That is BuildZoom's claim, not a registry check made here — ask for the number and look it up with the Office of Consumer Affairs before you sign anything. If your house is old, the job involves finish carpentry, decks, porches or a bathroom, and you want someone who will talk you out of work you do not need, the 2024–2025 accounts point his way. Confirm he is currently taking work, and ask for a recent address you can go and look at.
Peter and his crew have completed numerous jobs on our home and some rental units of ours over the last few years. The communication with Peter is has always been clear and his crew's workmanship is top notch. He has made some suggestions during the jobs that were very helpful, particularly when choosing materials and getting the best bang for our buck. For example, he suggested a mahogany beadboard ceiling in our covered porch when we had planned on just having a plastered ceiling. It turned out beautiful, with rich golden-brown tones, and it didn't cost that much more than a basic white ceiling. He also attended to some details on our deck that made it really pop, including stairs and handrails that look amazing and are rock-solid. We trust Peter and his crew with our home.
Peter and his team were excellent! Their attention to detail and communication were perfect. If something wasn't quite right, they went above and beyond to make sure everything turned out great. Our dog even loved them so you know they are good people. We love the bathroom we ended up with and would not hesitate to work with them again. Highly recommend!
Peter is the most ethical contractor I have experienced. I had other estimates for fixing windows that insisted there was a lot to be repaired. Peter came, looked at the windows, did simple repairs, and told me that what I was quoted was unnecessary and did not charge since what was required to repair the windows was simple. Only an honorable person would do what he did. He is exactly the type of contractor anyone should have working on their home.
I had Peter do some custom work on my house and it came out beautiful! He and his crew are top notch, very professional and excellent at communication. I added some extra work for them which they also finished in a timely basis and I get so many compliments on it. I'm looking forward to doing more projects with him in the future.
Peter and his crew have done a number of excellent jobs at my house. Their best work was the remodeling of our two bathrooms. Very professional, stuck to budgets and quotes and did an excellent job. This was an older job but we also hired them for a few other smaller repair jobs and a much larger window replacement job (we replaced them all). Peter is the first person we call when we have a project that needs doing.
