Peter Buzzelle Custom Carpentry works out of Jamaica Plain, and the six reviews on file through Houzz all point the same direction: people call him back. A condo association and several homeowners have used him for repeat work — additions, finish carpentry, and bathroom projects — over what the company describes as serving the Boston area since 2010, with a focus on older homes. The recurring theme is judgment as much as craftsmanship. In a 2024 review, a homeowner described getting a second opinion on window repairs that another estimate had padded — Peter did the simple fix and didn't charge for it. In a 2025 review, another described a mahogany beadboard porch ceiling he suggested in place of a plain plastered one, which came in only slightly above the basic option. A separate 2024 review credits him with remodeling two bathrooms on budget, alongside smaller repair jobs done for the same clients over time. Houzz rates the company 5.0 from six reviews (Work Quality, Communication and Value each 5.0), with one Houzz Award and three badges, and BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (#163448) as active, verified by BuildZoom as of March 2026. Worth knowing before reaching out: Houzz currently shows the company's profile as suspended pending the owner reactivating it, so it's worth confirming directly that the business is still taking new work. A reasonable call for finish carpentry, additions, or a bathroom remodel from a contractor with a track record of clients who keep rehiring rather than one big job — just confirm current availability given the paused Houzz listing.

Peter and his crew have completed numerous jobs on our home and some rental units of ours over the last few years. The communication with Peter is has always been clear and his crew's workmanship is top notch. He has made some suggestions during the jobs that were very helpful, particularly when choosing materials and getting the best bang for our buck. For example, he suggested a mahogany beadboard ceiling in our covered porch when we had planned on just having a plastered ceiling. It turned out beautiful, with rich golden-brown tones, and it didn't cost that much more than a basic white ceiling. He also attended to some details on our deck that made it really pop, including stairs and handrails that look amazing and are rock-solid. We trust Peter and his crew with our home.
Peter and his team were excellent! Their attention to detail and communication were perfect. If something wasn't quite right, they went above and beyond to make sure everything turned out great. Our dog even loved them so you know they are good people. We love the bathroom we ended up with and would not hesitate to work with them again. Highly recommend!
Peter is the most ethical contractor I have experienced. I had other estimates for fixing windows that insisted there was a lot to be repaired. Peter came, looked at the windows, did simple repairs, and told me that what I was quoted was unnecessary and did not charge since what was required to repair the windows was simple. Only an honorable person would do what he did. He is exactly the type of contractor anyone should have working on their home.
I had Peter do some custom work on my house and it came out beautiful! He and his crew are top notch, very professional and excellent at communication. I added some extra work for them which they also finished in a timely basis and I get so many compliments on it. I'm looking forward to doing more projects with him in the future.
Peter and his crew have done a number of excellent jobs at my house. Their best work was the remodeling of our two bathrooms. Very professional, stuck to budgets and quotes and did an excellent job. This was an older job but we also hired them for a few other smaller repair jobs and a much larger window replacement job (we replaced them all). Peter is the first person we call when we have a project that needs doing.
