PGM Handyman and Construction Services is a family-owned handyman and general-contracting company based in Weymouth, run by Paul, offering everything from small handyman fixes to room additions, remodeling, carpentry, and repair work. Its website's account of how long it's been around doesn't fully add up — it separately claims '30 years of experience' and says it was 'established in 2005,' which would put it at about 21 years, not 30. The company has an unusually large and mostly strong review base: a 4.6★ average from 22 Google ratings and a matching 4.6★ from 160 Angi ratings, an Angi-accredited business, with 34 individual written reviews on file spanning 2021 through mid-2026. Deck and porch work comes up more than anything else. Reviewers across several years describe Paul's crew rebuilding decking, replacing rotted railings and stairs, and repairing rot in porches and window/door trim — one 2025 review described a porch rebuilt 'like a fortress' after rot was found, and another described trim rot fixed with synthetic board that looked better than the original. Beyond decks, reviews describe tile floor installation, a garage door and floor resurfacing job, gutter cleaning, screen door installation, and interior and exterior painting, with reviewers repeatedly praising quick scheduling and same-day or next-day responses. Two reviews from 2023 describe serious problems. One accused workers of stealing items from the home — a PlayStation and silverware — during a job, and said the owner never responded to calls or texts about it. Another, dated the same year, described a job that was supposed to take about a week stretching into a month because the one assigned worker frequently didn't show up or arrived without transportation. Both sit apart from the pattern in every other review on file, before and after 2023. For deck, porch, and general handyman or carpentry work, PGM's review base is large and mostly strongly positive, but the two 2023 complaints — particularly the theft allegation — are worth asking about directly before hiring.
PGM Handyman and Construction Services rebuilt a broken-down deck on our house. They did an excellent job, from designing a beautiful deck to adding aesthetically pleasing finishing touches that made our deck the envy of the neighborhood. Their pricing was reasonable, they worked efficiently, and they were both professional and personable. I highly recommend Paul McCabe and his PGM team.
